alright well i have had some trouble as of late as some of you know with strings and DL and what not. anyways i just got my bow back from the shop with new strings on it. i like the strings but i think my DL is way WAY to long now. the guy at the shop said i would have to get a new mod for it to make it smaller. trouble is i dont know how old my bow is and i dont really have the money to get a new one like i REALLLY want to. plus i just paid 80 bucks for new strings and cables. anyways ill post a pic of before and after i got new strings and you guys tell me how my DL looks and if i can manage to hunt with it??? any help is greatly GREATLY appreciated
Your DL does need to be shortened some. Your arm should be bent just a little an your head should be forward a little.
Also, try and get a picture of your grip. I was having problems with string slap on my arm, and all I had to do was change my grip a little bit.
Wow, they both look long from that angle but the Superman pic is WAY long. How did it get that much longer? Find the spec's for that bow and make sure it's where it belongs for cam rotation, ATA length and brace height. Things shouldn't have changed that much unless one or the other string/cable sets was/is wrong. Search here to get the spec.'s for your bow. http://tune.pse-archery.com/ I've never heard of a model called the "Bow Masters". Are you sure it isn't "Bow Madness"
Too long for sure! I shoot with my draw length a little on the short side. I may lose a little speed, but my accuracy has increased big time. It is a good rule to shoot with a slightly bent bow arm and a relaxed grip. Your arm is straight and locked and contrary to what you might hear that is not a good idea. Did you get custom string/cables? The reason I ask is because if I were the bow shop guy helping you out I would have told you to go with stock string/cables for right now. Custom string/cables are great, but wait until you get things fixed and set like a year down the road. You could have saved money by going with stock string/cables and in turn had some to use for a new cam module instead. Another thing to think about is taking your bow somewhere else if you can to get a second opinion. Too many of these so called "Pro Shops" are a joke. They want you to buy all types of things that you DO NOT NEED! Second opinions are a good idea no matter what in life. Another thing I noticed is your loop is way to long. It can be smaller and this will also help with your OVER ALL draw length. Good Luck.
too long. the string need to be by the corner of your mouth. your hand is too far back, almost behind your head. you won't be able to have a consistent set anchor point. go back and get remeasured for you DL. send another set of pics. with hand placement exactly the same. you can read up on several ways to figure out your DL if you can't get to the pro shop.
yup its a bow masters. there is no online info on it and no one has heard of it online. thats also why i dont think i could find a mod. i think that in the before pic,my strings and cables had alot of twists in them and now they dont. also after i got my bow back my string was 1/2inch away from my stopper when it was touching it before hand. also ghill this will be the 3rd pair of string that i know of that will be on the bow
Is there a serial number on the bow anywhere? If there is that will help a ton with finding info. Just a thought.
Any time string and cables are put on there should be a certain amount of twist put in them. There should always be some twist. I'll tell you what...Get rid of that bow, I honestly think this is your best bet! With all these issues it will only get in your head and harm your shooting. Find out what your draw length is from someone who KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT and PM me once you do that. I might have something you would be interested in that is in awesome shape and has plenty of draw length built into it. It is a 60-70# Hoyt Striker with a Trophy Taker drop away on it. THERE ARE NO MECHANICAL ISSUES ON THIS BOW AT ALL!! I believe I still have the owners manual also. There is an HHA sight on it. If your interested contact me and we will talk about what you can afford and I will send you some pictures. It has a home made paint job that was put on it, but like I said the bow is in awesome shape. Just remember though it is a older Hoyt and I won't lie to you it is a little on the heavy side, but then again I prefer heavier weapons both bow and rifle.
I agree with the others, that your DL does look long. I'd suggest contacting PSE directly yourself. A quick search of their site turned up this contact information.
It might be an "ok" way, but it is far from accurate. The best way I have found is to pull back to your anchor and have a friend mark your arrow with a marker at the far side of the riser when you are in a comfortable anchor. Do this numerous times to make sure you are consistant. KEEP IT SIMPLE
Actually, if you want to be accurate, go to a pro shop. They'll have an arrow with a measurement in inches on it. They will have you draw it several times, and they'll mark down the inch mark every time you set at full draw. Be sure to be consistent with anchor points etc. so your reading won't be all over the place. You'll be surprised how much a 1/2 inch increment will make in a DL. It's the difference between consistent shooting or your arrows ending up all over on the target.
i dont know much about about archery with this being my second year but i have gone from a 30 DL to a 28.5 DL and will agree with what has been said in one post as to have it shorter than longer.... it is damn uncomfortable and sucks at first. and one thing i do know about.....MAKE SURE YOU NOCK AN ARROW WHEN YOU DRAW THE BOW.... it cost me $150 for string and cables about 4 months ago becuase i did the same thing using a new release and POWWW that was all she wrote
