    Frustrating day.

First, howdy y'all. Hunted deer most of my life, but this is my first year using archery gear. So with that said...

I missed. Bad. Got two shots at a nice doe this morning. First one I deserved to miss. Stupid shot. Will never take it again. She was in a bush and all that... It was so bad a miss, she barely moved.

But she gave me another shot. She came in nice. I timed my lift and draw with her head down. She was close, about 20 yards. So WHY oh WHY did I put the 30 yard pin on her? Yes, I was nervous and my heart was pounding. Oy. Shot went way over her. She did no even notice again, but she busted me trying to get another arrow out of the quiver.

I learned a lot today. Does not make it any easier. Could have had backstraps in our chili tonight.

How do you experienced bow hunters deal with stupid misses like that? The thing that makes me feel a littler better is that I missed and did not get a gut shot or worse.....

    It still sucks.

Sorry my first post is a whine. :)

All you can do is move on. It has happened to all of us and will happen again. Keep at it. The failures make the sucesses that much sweeter.

ugg indeed :D sorry about the misses but it happens. I try and focus on the shot only and try to forget the head gear if its a buck. once I know im going to shoot ill go through a whole mental list in my head and it seems to help. focus on your spot, and remain focused on that spot after release to prevent head jerking and pulling the shot. Ill make sure im taking only high percentage shots (no brush ;):D) bend at the waist on steep angles. focus focus focus :D

Everyone misses occasionally. I just try and learn from it adn thankfully it has paid off with not many misses. Alot has to do with nerve control too. I know guys that can shoot Robin Hoods all day long put a live animal in front of them and they almost pass out and fall out of the stand. lol At least you had a good encounter. Welcome to the forum.

    Focus, focus, focus...

Good idea. I can recall thinking about SO many things before I pulled the trigger.

Thanks for the "hugs" boys. LOL Keep your eyes peeled for my first bow harvest. :)
