What is going on in this world... This is absolutely sickening.

I blame this 100% on the parents but think that there's clearly at least one very disturbed, possibly psychopathic, juvenile involved here.

I also don't know how I feel about them being charged as adults... The brain of a 12 year-old is not a mature brain. I don't know if they have developed the understanding of consequences of actions and impulses.

A question I also have... Would "signs of mental illness" had been brought up if the girls had used a gun instead?

Anti Gun activists would be all over this if a gun had been used.

Fine dont charge them as adults. Just sentence them juvenile life until they are 18.

Sorry but every decision you make has a consequence. If you are not willing to take the consequence don't do the act. Its cut and dry they admitted to planning the whole thing. Who cares how old or who told them to do it? They did it an it was clearly premeditated. If they are mentally defect do you really want these kids meeting your loved ones in any setting.

I understand the doubt in trying them as adults but the moment that knife broke the skin several times that innocence was lost. We have to stop hiding behind excuses. Stuff like drugs made me do it, I can control myself is utter nonsense. Do the deed pay the price. Own it. Sorry if I hurt someone feelings here but the reality is until we start laying down the law this will all continue to get worse. Kinda hard to hurt someone if you are worm food unless the zombie apocalypse fires off.

I guess I fall in that not a lot category.

Ya sounds like they had some real problems in their heads. I think they are getting everything they deserve. This wasn't some spur of the moment thing where they had a fight and it was an emotional thing...they planned this for months.

I believe I read somewhere that the morals or understanding? of a 10 year old and a psychopath are the same. Probably a movie. Regardless I'm trying to point out that at about 12 they could have simply had a messed up upbringing. I don't know the difference in punishments for premeditated murder between adult and children, but at 12 years old I would be hesitant to try them as an adult.

But I would be pretty hesitant to be around these girls in any type of situation so I would also like them locked up.

Most juvenile court systems are extremely lenient. In fact, I had a "kid" in court today that helped steal two cars and make the victims life hell as a result....he turns 18 in two days and will only spend 3 months in jail. I think that is a joke.

The criminal complaint states that they attempted to murder the third girl "to please Slenderman, a fictional demon-like creature they learned about through a horror website." If believed to be true, as the prosecutor will attempt to do, it must be taken as a child's "fantasy", right? Would the circumstances have been any different if the girls had been 10 or 11?

I'm obviously not saying what they did is right. But we all know what the courts are going to do with this case. I don't think what you said is hurtful at all copperhead... They were trying to murder this girl. I can see the courts saying that at the age of 12 their brain is not developed to understand certain things.

    Sick.

Send the kids to juvy until they are 18 and get them back on the right track. Send the parents to prison. I have (2) daughters and one is 12, so I feel like I can judge a little tonight.

Maybe they actually do understand luring someone to their death is not right, yet still did it. They both made statements that seemed to indicate they knew what they were doing was wrong.

A 12 yr old child IMO knows right from wrong... they know what murder is.......
Hell my 4 yr old knows what it is and that its wrong although he is prob a bit young to understand the severity of the consequences. Spoke last evening with my 9 yr old daughter and her friend about it... the seemed very aware of all sides FWIW

I feel extremely sorry for all three girls and I would say that at least the one child is victim of a bad upbringing. The parents are very much at fault, who the hell lets a 12 yr old cruise freakin horror websites FN SAD
