when i had my new string put on he twisted it so that it would fit...i was wondering if that affects anything?? it turns my D loop 180 and i have to move it every time i want to attach the release....i was curious if it affects speed or the arrow or anything??(also beside the point the string that is wrapped around the main string is startin to come off...UGH!)

Hmmm... I wonder if he twisted it the wrong direction and caused the serving to loosen?

All strings and cables should have some twist in them. Brownell recommends 1 twist per 2-3 inches of string length. As a string/cable wears in it will elongate a slight bit over when it was installed. How much it elongates or "creeps" is determined by the material it's made from and the quality of the string maker. Once the string is broken in this creep is corrected for by adding twists to the string which shortens it. (10 twists will shorten a 36" cable by 1/4")

To correct your D-loop issue you can just roll the loop around your string where it needs to be but then you're going to have issues with your peep rotation. The string can be twisted in or out by 1/2 twists to correct this. A half twist of the string at the top cam rotates the peep nearly 1/2, a half twist at the bottom cam rotates the peep about 1/4 turn. (I always have to play with it to get it right though, each one is a little different depending on how many twists there are in the string.)

You caught me in the middle of building a set for a friend's Admiral.

Not sure why the serving would be coming off but I'd be talking to someone where I got the string.

Did the shop guy set the bow to spec before he tied the D-Loop on and installed the peep?

well if he did 8 times more then whats recommended then he measured the string wrong...right?? and he did the D loop after it was spun....but after a few days of my bow sitting, instead of facing away from the bow like a D loop does...it faces inward....

It sounds like you have a crappy string. The pro-shop guy twisted it up to get it back in spec (which was correct) and now the string seems to be creeping again, and the serving is coming undone. How old is the string on your bow?

The D-loop facing backwards is an easy fix, as kodiakArcher Described. Is the serving loose throughout it's entireity? (sp?) It could be that the D-loop has actually split the serving. What brand of string is it? could be a lower quailty one and your experiencing string stretch. I would take your bow in and have them re-serv your center serving, then reset the D-loop. Or possibly look towards a new string and cables

What makes you think he twisted it 8x's more than recommended? He put 10 twists in it to shorten it 1/4", that's correct. It's really hard to have too many twists in a string. Some of mine have 1+ twists per inch of string/cable. The recommendations by Brownell that I gave are just that, "recommendations". I would call them a minimum starting point. It sounds to me like your guy knows what he's doing.

I'm not saying this is the case, and it doesn't sound like it, but sometimes you have to twist a string to set the timing on the cams on some bows.
