Has anyone used these? Do they improve the flight? I am guessing they make the arrow spin more revilutions in a shorter distance??
I currently am using a 4 degree right offset on the duravanes i am shooting. Not sure how this relates to twister vanes as i am not sure what they are. Last season i was shooting straight duravanes and when i switched from field points to fixed broadheads it was basically like throwing a wrench in the system, my shots were not where i was aiming. Some of that may have been tuning as after joining this sight i have learned how to tune my bow and other tricks to improve my accuracy. This season I made sure my bow was tuned first then attached broadheads just to see how the new fletching would work. I shot 3 field points then 3 broadheads and to my amazement with no adjustments my broadheads almost cut vanes on my arrow with field points. This wasn't my best grouping from 30 but i was rather impressed.
I have heard that the twister vanes don't make significant improvement compared to blazers at an offset. No personal experience with them though.
To me it seems like it would slow the arrow down due to more drag from the greater pitch of the veins. But at the same time if there is more drag on the rear, it seems that the arrow would stabilize faster/shorter distance thus making them more accurate on a shorter shot. A the same time on a longer shot it seems it would make the arrow fly straighter out of the bow making it more accurate on longer shots also. I currently shoot GT Warriors 400 shaft. As everyone knows the Warriors are cheap carbon arrows. $50.00 a dozen. However, I like them. They are super quiet and pretty accurate. I will be using them for hunting this year too. I would like to improve them a little more. I don't have the $ to spend on new arrows either and thought this may be a solution or at least help some.
This is just word of mouth. I have no experience with them. I hear they are great out to 40 yards but anything after that is not so good.
I just put Twisters on my arrows last night and they fly great. I only have done 20 and 30 yards so far and they are right on point. I have not set up a 40 yard pin/shot but that is on the way. I was using the Blazers but my arrows were not going where I pinned them. I have not changed anything else in my shot routine or anything and they are going where they are pinned. I like the twisters and will be using them this season.
I eneded up installing the NAP QuickFletch Twisters to begin with and loved them. I tried the NAP QF Quickspins and love them more. My groups are tighter at farther yardages and they were really easy to install. I wont use anything else again.
