last photo is everything I will be planting this season. Mega plot, Redzone, Mean Bean and Rack Force are going in the ground in may and then it will be demolished by august so I'll till it under and plant the Maximum and Big N Beasty
I don't see alot of folks talking about it on here but Whitetail Institutes No-Plow is one of my favorites for a year-round plot. It is a mix of several different seeds such as clover, cereal grains and several kinds of brassicas. This mix (if planted in mid to late summer) will provide early season, late season and spring food for the deer. It is a great combo that where all the different species mature at different times during the year. It is also very low maintenance and fairly easy to get a good stand. Don't let the name fool ya though it is still best to prepare a good seedbed (disking, tilling, etc.) for best results. I have never tried mixing turnips with this mix but I'm sure it would do fine considering turnips have a small seed size just like the variety of seeds in No-Plow
Did they seem to adapt to the idea of bulbs in the ground? I've heard it takes a while in some cases for the deer to put 2 and 2 together.
The deer were in the plots immediately. Naturally the brassica grows faster than they can eat it. They hammered the bulbs after the leaf matter was mostly gone. when the ground froze they would use their hooves and dig the bulbs up to eat them. I planted five quarter acre plots of brassica and had a trailcam on each one. Averaged between 150 and 300 photos every seven days. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
