What's up fellas?? Hard to believe its time for plots already.

OK so last year was our first endeavor into the world of food plots and I have to say without a doubt was a complete success. They turned out great and we dragged more then a few deer out of those plots.

Now..........our buddy who helped us setup seems to be of the mindset that we need to do the same stuff we did last year......in other words, bottom plow, disc, lime, disc, till, plant. We were hoping to just disc the carp out of it and plant.

What do you guys do on existing plots to prepare the ground for seed??

    Thanks

On our farm we plowed the field the first year. 2nd and 3rd year just disced and planted beans and corn. I personally dont see the need in deep plowing again and again.

I would spray for weeds, get the lime down you need, disc and plant. You could disc a few more times, but it is up to you and when/what you are planting.
If you are planting a fall food plot, I would disc, let it sit for a while and hit it with round up wait a while and disc again and plant.

Many ways to go about it, but it all depends on how much work you want to do but you are on the right track and glad to hear the first year was a success! New to food plotting or not, failure isnt fun.

If you guys actually plowed last year I'd say spraying and disc is all you should need. Jake_ pretty much summed it up.
