So you do that for 200 times.... you come into the last left turn and are ahead by a lot. All you have to do is finish the last "Turn Left" and you win the Indy 500. Now comes the wall.... you smack right into it. No pressure.... no one on your tail... you've got it won and you drive it into the wall. On top of that you're a rookie at Indy. Turn left young man.... turn left. Don't drive into the wall on the last lap. There is some joy.... your junked piece of metal slides across the finish line in second. If the finish line was 50 yards further you wouldn't have made it. LOL TURN LEFT.
Figure 200 laps x 4 so he did it 800 times. On the 799th time he hits the wall. As they say.... only at Indy.
Yeah i feel terrible for that kid. he has to feel like the biggest idiot. I can't say anything too much, not sure I wouldn't have done the same. The announcers were pretty easy on him too. One of them made the comment that his "rookie" really was shining through. A veteran would have simply lifted completely, gotten back straight, and taken home the checkers. The real unfortunate part is that it very well could have been a once in a lifetime opportunity. Like they say... "Only at Indy"
