I recently went deer hunting in the morning and to my surprise as I got to my stand there were 2 turkeys gobbling in the ravine behind me. I didn't know turkeys gobble in the fall. I ended up seeing these 2 toms later in the morning. I have also heard them gobble a few other mornings this fall. My question is why were these turkeys gobbling in the fall?
To say "I am here and bad to the bone! " Also it is for the young jakes which they will run off this time of year. It is not strange to see them strut and drum. You will see small groups of jakes in October and November then they will often form tribes till spring. Boss Tom's have to hold there flocks all year and they do so by running off competition.
Thank you! My buddy saw them struttin the next day to and was wondering why they were but now I know!
Last weekend I had Toms running jakes all over the woods. They were chirping gobbling and strutting hard!
