I've never killed a turkey, and I want my first to be with a bow, Now, I have some brand new G5 strikers, but with my set-up, it will blow right through a turkey... (If I'm given the opportunity) I also have some of those Black Mamba expandables that I'm not sure I'd trust to shoot a ground hog with....

    Which would you shoot?

I would have to say the cheap expandables. If you have the right arrows, I would also turn your bow down as low as you can. I shot some 3-blade rages that I dulled up in my BH target at my bows minimum wt (60 lbs) and still blew through my turkey this year. But he sure didnt go far.

I agree with Zach, use the mechanicals for no other reason than, cutting diameter is much more important than penetration. And if you're talking about the Crimson Talon Black Mamba broadheads... those are sweet heads, I've killed both pigs and turkeys with them. Lots of people prefer for the arrow to stay in a turkey... personally I think it's a little overrated. Just like anything else, if you put the arrow where it needs to go it'll get the job done. Good luck!

I am going to use a jak-hammer with 1 3/4 inch, and using a t-lock or buzzcut during deer season this year

    I say use a Mossberg 12 ga with 3 1/2" shells. :d

Seriously I would go with the expandables as well. Like as already been said you are looking for good cutting diameter.

I agree, either will work with a well placed shot but the expandables with the bigger cutting diamater might just help a shot out if just slightly off...and good luck to ya!!

I shoot a 3 blade Rocket with a 2" cutting diameter. They make an interesting hole to say the least. Expandables on turkeys all the way.
