Maybe its where I hunt, but I can't imagine taking a turkey with a bow with no blind. Just yesterday morning, had a whole flock come in and get 10 yards, and didn't even see em. Here they are starring at me. Couldn't get the job done with a gun, don't know how I would do it with a bow.

Thanks, but to be clear. I did use a blind for this hunt. I have hunted with and without a blind this year but I was in a blind that I placed prior to the season opener when I took this bird. I am going to put a lot of effort into getting a bird without a blind, but I think I would stand far better odds when we have a little more green up. Right now the timber is still so wide open that it would take a perfect chain of events to get a good shot off.

    Nice job man!

One of these days I may actually get interested in turkey hunting enough to go do it. For some reason I just can't find it within me to take any time off work or drive any sort of significant distance to hunt a bird.

    Excellent job.

here is the reason I don't have a blind. 1st, I longbow hunt mostly. I guess I could use my compound. Still be much more challenge than shotgun. You have to get a monster blind to get a shot off with a longbow, and usually expensive. Second. We just don't have that many turkeys. You have to do alot of locating, running and gunning. So setup would be tough.

I wished I lived in a turkey heavy country. I do enjoy it. You can say you got it done with a bow.

Very nice, I am jealous. I blew my shot yesterday AM. Maybe next week.

    Awesome job, man, nice bird.

I've always wanted to try to hunt turkey with my bow, but we just don't have enough turkeys around here, and I hunt mostly public land, so you only get so many opportunities. I feel I have to make them count with my shotgun.

The first good hunt you had would hook you for life. Really a rush when the birds start gobblling on the roost and you get them fired up. Its a great time to be out in the timber too. I take a lot of notes on deer scouting while I am chasing turkeys in the spring woods. In fact, I found a great rub line a couple of days ago and picked out a good tree for a stand. Here is a picture of one of the rubs. I think it is from a nice 3 year old 10 pt that had a lot of stickers off both bases. He should be a shooter buck this year.

My blind would actually work for you. I bought a Double Bull BS5 that is an extra 6" tall. It was designed for longbow shooters but I just like the extra head room and the ability to stand up and stretch or even stand and shoot. I put a nice golf bag shoulder strap on the blind bag so its not bad to carry and I can set up and take down in seconds. Even when using a blind I quite often make a move on birds. We are blessed with lots of birds which makes bowhunting much more enjoyable. (read that as EASIER) The other morning when it was really calm, I stood on an open ridgetop and probably heard a minimum of 15 gobblers. I have yet make a hunt that I didnt call in at least one gobbler to what would have been easy gun range. But, it still seems to take that last little bit of luck to make it happen with the bow.

One day you should just get yourself hooked up with a turkey hunter that knows what he's doing. The first time you have one gobble on a roost, fly down, gooble and come strutting in will hook you. It is a hoot. It can also be very much a pain in the butt when one hangs up or just gets you stirred and heads off with his hens. LOL What else do you have to do on a fine spring morning? I've hunted turkeys for close to 35 years. For years I never carried a gun, just some calls and a friend with a gun. Personnally, I'm not that fond of the meat so shooting one doesn't really turn me on as much as the calling and the unfolding of a spring morning.

Thanks man. Just wet, wet, wet, and cold. Getting old. Believe it or not, I have lived here for over 40 years and have never even seen a tornado. Thank the Lord.
