I have not yet been able to bowhunt turkeys but I thought that when I did I would take a longer shot. I figured if I missed badly it would be a total miss. If I miss badly on a deer it likely would not be a total miss but a gut shot or something as bad.

For me, no. My bow range on turkeys is closer than it is on deer.

Would the yes's take longer shots on a small doe than a bigger bodied buck? Same logic applies...

I'd rate a turkey over a deer where I live/hunt. Deer are everywhere, turkeys aren't. Interesting topic, I'd never put much thought into it.

    Well said.

Every shot we take regardless of distance/animal/weapon is a risk/reward situation. Sometimes the risk is minimal, sometimes it is high. Everyone has a threshhold of what shots they will take, and often times it is pushed one way or the other depending on those instantaneous circumstances.

Nope the smaller the vitals the closer I want the animal.
