I'm home for the day with a sick little man. Decided to take a ride this morning, saw 3 nice birds with a bunch of hens and another 3 little jakes showing off for their pack of hens. All on posted land that nobody will get to hunt but it's nice to see them anyway!

We were out cleaning things up getting ready for our little chicks to arrive. We get done, I decide to go to the house to see if I can get the motion light to cooperate with me for a change when I noticed a gobble off in the distance, 7:30. I lost all interest in the light. I started focusing on the gobble. There was another then another. I thought, normal, they often will gobble when they fly up. This went on till 8:00. I counted over 12 gobbles in all. Could only be sure of 3-4 different birds due to the distance from us that they were, either way it was an interesting evening.

Hope the little guy gets to feeling better tacks!! Nothing worse than seeing the little ones miserable.

Gotta love hearing birds from the house, the only time that ever happened to me, it lead to killing my first jake the next morning, and I've been hooked ever since!

He's got a cold/fever thing going on. Working a half day this morning so mom can get some stuff done at work this afternoon. He's felling a little better with some Tylenol motivation right now.

We will probably go for another ride this evening, saw a real nice bird headed out of my buddy's sugar woods this morning!

We just bought this place a little over a year ago. It is awesome seeing and hearing the wildlife from the house. We've had a flock of about 8 Blue Wing Teal at the house the for last week on the pond.

We had 1 gobbler and a jake walk by with 10 or 12 hens about 100 yards out. Never even gave us glance. That setup worked once for a my cousin a few years ago and I keep trying it. I'm going to have to call an audible tomorrow morning. Mom and I are sitting in a spot that think is pretty good but slow so far this afternoon. It's right on the bend of the river, kind of a funnel. I saw tracks here late this winter but I haven't spent enough time here to know for sure.

There was a hen just over the bluff from the house this afternoon cuttin' up a storm. Never did see her or hear a gobble. At least they are hanging around our place.

Me and buddy went out this past Sat for KY youth season with my little girl. Had about 5 or 6 hammering around us but have no clue where they went when the pitched down. Usually see a bunch around a private property next to power plant on my way to and from work but didn't even see them Saturday. Guess since it was a nice day they just scratched around in woods all morning and hit the field late. All in all I think she had good time listening to them. We shall see how IN youth goes.

Well last night was pretty amazing for the last day that I was able to take out the little brother. Got an opportunity he shot two times at a group of toms!!! Shot the first time and missed then shot again and hit him in the leg so he survived. That was the end of the weekend hunting with the little brother!!! I'd have to say he's hooked!!! Went out this morning took one of my buddies that just started shooting a bow three months ago. Got him on a couple Jakes this morning and he arrowed one! He went about 10 yards and expired! Nothing more rewarding than getting a couple new guys hooked on bow hunting!!! Here's a couple pictures of him and his first bird ever!!![IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
