Tonight I finished getting my bow ready and loading my quiver. I have 2 Magnus Bullheads and 2 NAP Gobbler Getters spun, loaded up and ready to go. I put the sticks on the front for sitting in the blind and have dug out all of my black hoodies and my gloves. We got almost 3 inches of snow here today and most of it went south so we will see what they end up with in Nebraska. I have to warm up my decoys and pop them out tomorrow night and load up my turkey bag, blind and chairs. I'm going to stop on the way to set up a couple camera on one of the farms we hunt. This farm is the easiest for my Mom to get in and out of but the birds there are pretty sharp. Hopefully I can get a pattern on camera for the next week and have a plan for opening morning. I know where they roost but they have wanted nothing to do with decoys in the past. I may end up trying and bow mounted decoy and taking it to them if they don't want to play. I've never done that but it looks like fun. I'm not sure how well 6'4", 300 lbs of dutch boy will hide behind a decoy but I'll give it a whirl. I hope everyone has a great weekend and I'll check back next week.
A friend of mine just jumped in a car when he got off work at 4am and is driving to Florida to try to find a public land bird. 24 hour drive!
He killed his 50th bird at 25 years old. So yes I would agree he's a little crazy! From Vermont but his dad used to run a guide service in Missouri so I think he had lots of opportunities out there and in surrounding states. He missed his first Osceola last year on public land so he's looking for redemption.
That's amazing I wish I had the opportunity to hunt different states!!! Even though Kansas isn't bad at all!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
