    Checking in!

Right now I'm looking at the week of April 20-26 and then again with my boys May 11-17. Didn't have much luck last year (didn't see a single Tom while out hunting), but have already been seeing some pretty good sign in my area this year. Got the cams back out 2 weeks ago and am hoping to check them in 2 more weeks...can't wait for this season to start up!

Pretty sure I'm losing one of my main turkey properties, it's been on the market and I believe it's currently under contract, in this area it likely means they themself will be hunters or just the opposite, Anti's. But I will attempt to get on their good side either way!

We've been seeing a couple real nice Toms hanging around our place.
There are also some nice ones at my in-laws. We'll see how it goes.

When you guys scout new property, do any of you guys have a process in how you go about it?

Good stuff Anthony, if I had any birds scouted I would try to find a kid to take, don't have any kids in the family old enough or young enough so I'm not feeling the pressure this year!

Marauder, around here I can usually walk logging roads or trails and find sign if there are birds, they use logging roads for ease of movement just like you or a deer, I also like to check out low hardwood areas adjacent to softwood/swampy areas. In the hardwoods I'm looking for signs of feeding and daily activity. But nothing beats being in the woods at daylight a week before the season.

How do you find where they roost? Many articles I read talk about that. The spot I am going to be hunting has plenty of turkeys but I have to able to intercept them when they pass through. Sorry about the questions but I'm super new to this. :tu:

If there are creeks or real woolly fence rows where you can hide from them. Other than that I may try yelping a few times to see if they answer. Hope that helps.

We use to find a road, if possible, then watch them towards the end of the day to see where they entered the timber from the fields they were in. It isn't always possible to do though. Sometimes they will gobble when they fly up. It all depends on the type of area you hunt.

I like Thunder Chicken Assassins for a team name and I nominate Marauder as Team Captain.
