Congrats! Way to kick things off
Taking the boys out again for the MO youth season this weekend, but it's on like Donkey Kong next week as we make the trek to Kansas! Love that state and its beautiful birds!!
I'll let Dan know it looks like we're still going to need another alternate... I went back through the thread and never found where suncrest08 ever checked in.
Turkey Team #3 Team three triple threat
Nice work jaske! Congrats man!!!
Good job on your 1st bird
Sending Dubbya your way
Hello boys, just checking in here!!! Looks like you guys are already off to a good start, congrats!
Welcome Dubbya! I see your connected with Tim Z @ TAZ archery near me here in northern IL. Hope that relationship works out for you in your business. When does your turkey season open?
Welcome aboard old teammate!
I think we've got a full house now.
Welcome aboard Dustin!
Called in three longbeards on Saturday for my oldest from a few football fields away... they came in DIRECTLY behind us as we had our backs up against a creek off a neighboring farm, flew the creek and walked out in front of us. They still got a bit squirrelly there at the last minute and my son had to swing and shoot... After a bit of a chase, I put my foot on the neck of a 27-lb bird with a 9" beard toting 1 3/16" spurs.
Two states down for him and it's off to Kansas in about an hour and then on to Nebraska. Good hunting everyone!!
Congrats to you and your son
Congrats on the bird!

There are no birds in KS....
Well ... There's at least one less bird in KS as of 10:09 this morning.
Matthew is 3/4 of the way to his "Matthew Slam" after lowering the boom on a nice Rio I called in off the roost which strutted back and forth 10' behind the blind until we had enough & worked a shotgun barrel out a window
IL, MO & now KS down for the kid. NE still to go
Hopefully we can have several come in at some point over the next few days and get Daddy on board too!
Congrats on another bird. Post some pics
LOL... was coming back to do just that. Finally getting a second to catch our breath
Here's Matthew's MO bird from Saturday with the 1 3/16" spurs:
And here's his Kansas Rio from this morning...
Nice to finally have some dry tail feathers
I called our bird in this morning straight off the roost and he was within sight at 6:40 standing 40 yards away off to our left. He worked his way back and behind us to within 10 feet of our blind ... and proceeded to spit and drum and gobble right there for almost three HOURS!!!
We finally had enough of it and poked the shotgun barrel out of the top of a window and Gabe held the gun up for about 30 minutes waiting for him to move to one side or the other of a big hedge tree we'd put our blind up against. When he finally wouldn't budge, we decided to pass the gun to Matthew since he's left-handed and had the better angle. We picked a hole to shoot through and Matthew dropped him in his tracks at 10:09 a.m.
We were pinned down so long there we each actually had to get on our knees in the front of the blind and pee; I would cut and purr to cover the noise of our pee hitting the ground, and he would gobble so much at it too that we got away with it.
Heading back out in a bit.
