Great, noticed a new travel route as well. I am gonna get out on one of those walks this weekend I hope. Good luck buddy.
I bow hunt deer and gun hunt turkeys. As much as I love to bow hunt, I have NO desire to shoot a turkey with a bow. It is very weird. I have been hunting deer with a bow 99% of the time since I was 15 years old...but when it comes to turkeys, I don't have the slightest want to use a bow.
Thanks for the opinions guys. It doesn't really matter what you weapon of choice is to turkey hunt, so long as you hunt. Shotgun or Bow, both are equally effective and enjoyable. I only know one thing, on opening day I plan to be sitting against a tree or in a blind before sunrise listening to the old long beard gobble his little red head off. Good luck to all of you on your spring season.
Last year I hunted with my bow and killed a jake on opening day. You can click on the link below if you would like to watch this hunt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Mj8_5cfS38 This year I plan to take a tom with my shotgun first, then bow hunt the remainder of the season.
I will be gun hunting in Mississippi in March and then hunt with bow at home in April. I really enjoy "running and gunning" in March because I get it out of my system so that I can have patience to bow hunt in April. I have been going to Mississippi for about 10 years now and the only year I did not get my 3 birds was when I had a broken ankle and was hunting on crutches. I only killed one that year and felt lucky to do that.
