Just got back from NE Nebraska and the turkey hunting was awful!!?? Anyone else been out?? The birds were not talking at all no matter what i threw at em?!
I'm in SE Nebraska and same here, nothing is breaking loose yet. Unless you sit on the roosts or have a pattern you may as well stay home. The birds have broken up from their wintering groups here but the toms aren't listening to calls yet, hopefully next weekend this changes.
Im thinking about hunting Weds-Fri but the weather doesnt look very good?!?!? I just cant stand ending on such a bad hunt.
Here in Colorado on Sunday afternoon/evening we had some talk back to us and were very vocal just couldn't get him to present a good shot for me, to many tamaracks on the river. Yesterday afternoon was awful only saw one hen and couldn't get a response from anything. Going to layoff a couple days and give them a little more time.
sounds like Kentucky....gobbling good on roost but shut up when they hit the ground .....call to them and their gone ....
Early morning and later in the evenings they are being very vocal but can't seem to get them to comit to coming in. They are staying around 60-80 yards, have tried it with decoys and without but i'm not sure they can even see the decoys from that far with all the cover thats between them and me.
