Who has one (or more)? and about how much do they run to get one? My reason for asking is my tag opens up tomorrow morning. Due to work, I only get to hunt this weekend, and if I'm lucky a few hours Monday morning. This is only my 3rd year at it, and 2nd with my bow. My first year I took a good gobbler about 40 minutes into my first hunt with a shotgun, and decided my next bird would be with a bow, no matter how long it took. I also said if the bird was a decent one, then I would get it mounted to go along with my deer heads, since it would of be my first with archery gear. I don't have any idea how much they actually cost, but if they aren't to steep then it would definantly be nice to have.
500 plus bucks around here. Alot of work goes into those birds. Every feather has to be placed. I have my archery turkey flying on the wall. I liked it that way just to show the size of these birds.
This is my oldest son's first mature gobbler. Shot on the morning of his 12th birthday. Mounted by Rick Morris of The Turkey Roost in Greentop, MO. He has won the World Championships. As good as they get in my opinion. This mount is 5 years old so I am not sure of the cost now. If I remember right, it was around $700 or $800 then. I keep it in a glass case and it looks the same as the day I picked it up. Rick produces his own freeze-dried heads and this bird is in a half-strut pose.
Here is my 1 and only Turk mount Its the one I shot in the hunt I won with Heartland bowhunter, yeah its the one with the knee cap hit first :D I think mine was $450.00 and I did the base and Habitat work. Rob/Pa has some good ones. Rob!!!!! post em
I decided to go a little different route in order to save some space... it cost around $225 if I remember correctly!
My first turkey mount. My second mount. and it's home, My third turkey mount, And my 4th, Kansas Rio, The only one I'm actually waiting to get now is a standing upright gobbler and I'm likely done mounting turkeys. ;-)
Man, that one on the railing is awesome. You pretty much have my dream home, thats basically exactly what I want whenever I get a house. I'm very jealous, congratulations sir!
Rob/PA, I get so jealous when you post pictures of your house. Can't wait to be able to build something similar.
Tukey Mounts Opening day of the 2009 Spring Season, my wife and I killed these two nice toms. I thought this would be a unique way of mounting our first birds. Hope you like. They were $400 a piece . Cost a lot but it is well worth it.
gabevtwin Thanks man!! The taxidermist that did it said it was his first one and out of all the taxidermist he has talked to there is not another one like it around here. I think that's pretty sweet.
