Well, I am too late for the contest but, I'm gonna bowhunt for 'em anyway. Today starts the season and it rained all night. It's warm and foggy this morning. Heck i worked up a sweat just getting gear together in the yard. I don't have any expertise in hunting for turkey so, bare w/me My question is two fold: 1) How would you hunt 'em with all the soaking wet terrain, do big puddles hold them up?? 2) I get a lot of ticks on me even though I spray myself, what do you use for ticks and mosquitos? Thanks.
Went out this morning as it the first day of turkey hunting in VA. Nothing went right. First, the route to the property I was hunting had a DETOUR so, I had to figure out how to get around it. Anyway 30 minutes later I end up finding somewhere to park, 1 mile away form my area . That's not the worst part. To get to my area I had to walk thru the woods with ALL my stuff (freekin' exhausting) there was some parts so thick I had to crawl. OK, it gets worse. When I finally get to my area I see Gobblers sneakin' around in the thick stuff . Wait, I told U it gets worse. I start unloading my baggage and... NO ARROWS . I use 1 of those quivers that strap across your back because and they must have come out while I was crawling thru some briars . Even after all that I didn't give up. I stashed my equipment and made the rugged trek back to my car. As I approached it I reached in my pocket for my car keys and..U guessed it, they're back in the woods with my equipment. I looked for my arrows on the way back and I didn't find them. Well, now there is not an emoticon to describe what I was thinking now.To be continued...
