Tomorrow morning I was planning on going on my very 1st turkey hunt ever. The wind Is gusting right now right around 25 mph and from what I understand It Isn't going to let up much. The area I'm hunting In Isn't loaded with turkeys so calling Is pretty much a must. Is It even worth going If the wind Is still blowing this bad? Kind of hard for them to hear my calling wouldn't It be?
Honestly, Steve (and just my opinion), unless you have some field(s) to hunt, that's a tall order. 20+mph winds make a lot of noise and chaos in the woods, and that makes things pretty darn difficult. That and possible t-storms is the reason that I'm sleeping in tomorrow Not to say that it can't be done, though. I've seen them in the fields getting blown around, before but it was a visual kind of hunt, calling was useless.
Thanks Josh, I kinda figured that. I'll get my butt up In the morning and see what the wind Is doing, If It's blowing the same I'm staying In. Thanks for the Info Josh, I'm hitting the hay.
Im dealing with the same problem here in Wisconsin. I would say just sleep in. Your season lasts awhile doesn't it?
Yep, It goes for a few weeks yet. Well I'm going to head on out In about 5 minutes even though the wind Is still whipping 20+ mph here. Later folks!!
