Bowhunting Turkeys in KS is a Blast. I really think there are more Turkeys than people in most areas, and compared to most Turkeys I've hunted in othere states they are really aggressive. I hope to go back again soon! Dan
They sure can be aggressive We have had B-Mobile stakes bent from getting hit so hard, and we have to change out the fans regularly
turkeys in Kansas The area of kansas where we lease ground has RIos, Easterns and hybrids. Population is excellent and the hunting pressure is minimal. For a bowhunt you would be the 1st to hunt in the Spring.
Kansas turkey hunting The cost of a 3 day hunt is $545 which includes Room & Board and 2 bird limit ; 5 day hunt is $695. The hunts are unguided but ther are maps at the lodge and we have over 20 different parcels with around 9000 acres.
Sounds like a sure thing. I've actually never heard of anyone going to KS and NOT killing a bird. I've heard they're aggressive, too. I've also heard they come to bait, pretty dependably. Sounds like a fair price for a hunt.
Sounds like you should go find out first hand. The birds were roosting along the edge of a picked corn field when I was there. I doubt baiting would have had any effect on them with 100 acres of corn laying all over. I never understood how baiting would work very well in any agricultural state. How's it work in NC? I really don't consider myself a Turkey hunter but the birds I hunted in KS were easily called and decoyed in. Who would need Bait? Dan
Wouldn't know, Dan. It's illegal, here. Everyone I know who has hunted turkeys in KS has killed a turkey (at least 1). Everyone I know says the outfitters employed bait (or, they themselves did). You say you didn't. I don't care, either way.
When I went to KS Turkey hunting I set out to kill a Rio & an Eastern with my bow. Mission accomplished!! I also killed a Merriam with my bow in NE. Not that it makes any difference but baiting is illegal in NE. I've Hunted Bears over bait and it was a Blast. It's the only way to hunt them in many areas IMO. I guess technically I did bait Turkeys in KS, but that 100 acre cornfield was a lot to cover with my bow I thought I'd seen where you baited deer before. I apologize my Bad! Dan
There are alot of posts about Kansas Turkey hunting that are correct. THe birds are very plentiful. The terrain with it small creeks bottoms bordered on both sides by large grain or CRP fields make the setups for any hunting ideal. Anyone who lives for bowhunting turkey or deer needs to place a hunt to Kansas on their calendar. I did not mention we are in Washington County in north central Kansas.
