I have tried many heads and can't say I've found the perfect one. I've shot around 15 turkeys and recovered 10, the birds are tough as nails. I've shot conventional broadheads with hit and miss results, Rage 2 blades with mixed results and guillotines with great results inside of 20 yards. It has more to do with shot placement than the broadhead itself, you have very small targets (vitals) and seldom are they perfectly still. With that said the bigger the cutting diameter, the higher your odds of recovery. The head will depend on if you are going for a head/neck shot or vitals.

I found some GoldTip Gladiators on sale, for like......5 bucks a pack. It's a 2 blade mechanical with a big chisel point, but they don't penetrate well at all. Which is what I want for turkeys. If you can find something that will yield a big cut and keep the arrow in the bird, all the better.

Either that, or go w/ the guillotine. You either cut their head off or don't hurt them. If you hit one in the body, the arrow will bounce off. The only problem I have w/ these is you need a long arrow. The arrow must be in front of your riser at full draw.

You don't need anything fancy for turkeys. They don't gotta be super sharp like with a deer. Something that will yield a big cut and fly well.

Question for the guys who shoot the guillotine or the bullhead........

How do you sight in you bow for one?

My arrow will be two to three inches longer not to mention a huge BH on the end. I'm pretty sure they don't come with practice blades (as far as I know).

I will be useing full length arrows with a 4" 4 feather fletching. You can shoot bullheads into your layered target or find a couch pillow that someone is throwing out. Bullheads have a lifetime warrenty, but blades are strong and can be resharpened. Do a Bullhead search on youtube there are alot of tuning vids on there.

Once you convert over to the Bullheads, You'll never shoot anything but.

2 Reasons. On Hit or Miss type of shots. Recovery is normally in Inches once hit.

I like these type of Game Specific heads. I lost too many birds to the other types and I know it all about shot placement. But shooting them in the head is like being able to see the vitals compared to Not Seeing them.

    Just my two cents.

I've used Gobbler Getters, Bull Heads, and the regular Spitfires, and was Not impressed with the results.

About 2 years ago I just started using my regular deer setup which was the Grizz Tricks since then I have shot 4 Turkeys and recovered them all. No doubt a lot of Broadheads will work, but most importantly use what you have total confidence in.

For me that was my regular setup.

BOWSPEC, I like you're signature a lot. I'm using what I use for deer, slick trick mags. I'll be hunting with both shotgun and bow though.. in Indy and Ohio. Ohio has very good to me. The Indiana birds have not... at all:o
