Just curious what everyone's favorite or most successful decoy setups are. Lone hen? Hen and Jake? Hen and Tom? Etc..

I like a couple of hens and a tom but have seen a single strutting tom work well too.

I'll be using a single Tom. It seems to be the main set up on most shows I watch. Less for me to lug around too.

I will be using the Peepn Tom and Pretty Penny decoys this year. I may also put out another hen decoy I have.

i will be using my b-mobile and a hen decoy or two but i will probably space them out with the hens together like he was just showing up to the party, i have had the most succes with a set up like this but you do need to make the judgement call depending on the time of year and how the birds wanna act :)

DSD Jake and any hen of your choice. The DSD Jake is hands down the deadliest decoy on the market. A tom sees it and it is generally lights out.

Dont mean to Hijack this thread, but do you guys have a preference over a strutting jake or a strutting tom? Some guys say that a strutting jake is better because some subordinate birds wont be timid to come in as oppose to having a strutting tom. Any ideas?

I agree with several hens.. I also run and gun.. We have over 400 acres and usually have 4-5 areas that we can find several flocks.. We will try one area, and if nothing sounds off or shows himself, we pick up and hit another area.. We are always on the move.. Call and have one fire back at ya, and set a few hens up and hunker down for the show.. Hard to have a big set up when moving so much..

Fairly common setup......One feeding hen, one alert, and a jake....Strutters tend to scare the birds around here more....

I'm trying my first time with just a Tom decoy, if it doesn't work I may add a hen in the fall
