Turkey closeup

    Tons of turkeys for the last month. They're starting to break up and set up a home range. After a quick visit under the bird feeders they run to the driveway (just thawed this week) and eat gravel for their crops. A couple of cell phone pics out my window.

    A fixed blade broadhead will zoom right through a fiberglass window screen and stay right on target. Just sayin'... :D




    Are Eastern's the only subspecies of turkey you have there? Maps show Eastern's only, but I'm just curious if any Merriams have made it that far east. I'm really fascinated in what folks see in their areas. I've only ever encountered Rio's in a hunting situation, but we have Eastern's in the eastern border part of the state (never seen one in person) and I've seen Merriam in the mountains in the far west part.
