havent used a tube in years, started with one and then moved on. I have myself had them snap back at your face and seen a mate on a hunt lose a good pig at 10 yards because of one breaking. I use a fletchers tru peep, they weight next to nothing, you can get larger sized, try a 3/4" and line up all of your sight surround to know you are holding a consistent anchor point, going smaller in different low light conditions may cause you to not see your target.
Using a peep with a tube is a good way to loose an eye. With today string materials and variety of peeps there is no reson to use a tubed one. Maybe take off your tube and try it.
Hey, thanks for the help everyone. I am going to Gander tomorrow and have them install a G5 tubeless peep. Before I get there, and I know I can just talk to the people there as well, but...let me ask everyone here this question, in the G5 peeps, do they have different sized holes? Also, how much of a difference is it having a smaller hole compared to a larger hole? I know that a larger hole will allow more room for error with anchor point. But, are the smaller diameter holes harder to look through? Again, thanks for everyone's help.
I really like the Predator View Peep. Problem with the tube is I have a friend that had the tube break and lost his eye, since then never considered one.
Yes the g5 peeps have different sizes. I prefer the 3/16 ones myself. The smaller you go it will change your sight picture. I prefer the 3/16 because I an see the outside ring of my sight and be able to use that as a sight reference also to tell if I am torquing the bow at all and really helps me at long distance shooting.
The big difference shows up in low light. I am guessing there would be a long list of folks on here who could attest to learning this lesson the hard way. If you have a round sight ring... choose your peep size so that at full draw, the peep and the apparent size of the sight ring are the same, then line the edges up while aiming. This makes sure you are always centered and the size of the peep will not be an issue.
Never hade a problem with the tubeless being out of alignment. I too prefer the 3/16, because it gives you a bigger window to see exactly where the kill zone is on the animal. Some prefer smaller to increase accuracy, but I like the bigger to see more of the target.
If you do use a peep tube. Use the pine ridge silicone tubing. I use a Mata peep. I don't like the new design on them though.
Well, thanks for all the info and suggestions. I wound up getting the G5 in the 3/16". Now I just have to find someone that can install it for me. LOL. That's another story, but I can't wait to get it installed and start using it.
Well Im done with tubes, mine kept breaking due to dry rot or what ever. You could see the wear it took slaping on the cables not to mention hearing it. So Mr fix it sets in to action to remove it and now i have to take it to be restrung ect. So Im going to go topless. I mean tubless..lol
This is why I love this site. A quick search turned up my answer. I was pondering going with a tube, but then this thread reminded me that its a new bow and if got a couple hundred through it. I need to re adjust. I am not satisfied with the peep that the bow came with so I'm gonna try the G5 (another find on here). Seams to be a favorite. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
