After going through my trail cam picks from last year one of the things I noticed is that all the way through the year, especially during the season, most of the pics I got of the bigger bucks around were anywhere from the last couple days of the month through the first couple days of the month. Last year being the first time had more than one or two cams out not sure if should try and key in on this or not.

So is this just a coincidence or is this normally when its the times to get out after the bigger guys. Other than that I pretty much got when and where to be at certain times, this was just one of the things I was wondering about as I skimmed through pics trying to inventory deer and start to see who stuck around this year.

I've never noticed us getting pics around the last and the first of the months. We always get pics of big bucks the first week of october and the 2nd week of november.

Yea I don't know really, probably just one of them things. I got them last year from End of August all the way until January, basically whenever they split out of bachelor groups.

New Moon? The lunar cycle would have had a new moon near the end of a month and beginning of a new month throughout most of hunting season last year.

Patterns are not in fact patterns. Patterns are repeat with no fluctuation...if this were the case a mature buck would be killable by a 5 year old kid hunting 30 minutes one time each year. However, tracking movements and the factors in play (pre-dawn wind, present wind, time of year, food timing, proximity to nearest doe bedding areas, lunar calendar, temperature, barometric pressure, weather conditions pre, during and post sightings....)

All of those things allow us to better guess by utilizing our ability to analyze behavior and predict what they are "most likely" to do given certain criteria....over years it has been eerie how much the lunar calendar can predict active movement for us.

Yea I didn't know if it had to do with moon phases or what. Was basically just curious and trying to get this deer hunting thing figured out. Usually just go out and see what I see but I've been trying to figure it out more and be more productive I guess when I do head out to the woods. Dont think you can ever get everything figured out but always trying to learn.

    Thanks guys

Big bucks bed a lot based on wind... So, when I get pics of them in evening or morning I am looking at wind direction and I hunt them based on the same wind factors repeating themselves.

I'm pretty sure they don't keep calendars so there must be some sort of logical explanation for this.
Fitz hit the nail on the head. Things that change on a month long cycle? Menstration and MOON PHASE.

Moon phase might change time of day they come out, but should not change there pattern.

Basically that's what I was originally getting too. Some plan everything off moon phases but others say it has no bearing. I just noticed what was going on with the deer I have and wondered if others had same thing and if its something I should try to key in on. Not so much the actual calender dates but what the reasons were for those dates to be consistent on the farm I hunt.

Again thanks guys for the input.
