Hi All. I'm thinking about trying out this bowhunting thing once more. I had a Carbon Cure and couldn't get into. After talking to a couple people, I'm pretty sure it just wasn't a good fit for me. Even at it's shortest setting (27") the draw length was a bit long for me. One guy said he never would have let me buy that bow.
Point of all this is, I want to try once more, but don't have tons of cash to get into it. I've been looking used and found a Mission Riot with 4 Maxima Blue Streak arrow, Trophy Ridge sight and quiver, whisker biscuit, release and case for $300. It's a lady selling it to fund her wedding, but in talking to her she says it was her dads, and she's not sure she ever saw him take it out of the case. He has nice bows that he used.
Seem like a good deal or hold off?

Mission makes a heck of bow. Seems like a great deal. Welcome back to the addiction. Where are you located in Minnesota?

Definitely a good bow for its price point. Also made by a top company. The bow new was $400 just to give you an idea on it. I believe it was a 2011 or 2012 model. But was considered one of the better low budget bows.

For $300 and it comes with all the accessories I think you found a good deal since it sounds like it is in good shape as well.

If you get it, I would go to a pro shop and have them find your proper draw length so you be comfortable shooting it.

Getting the proper draw length and weight set for you is key to how well you will be able to shoot and tune. After that it's a matter of practice, practice, and more practice.

Next question then. I'm on a pretty tight budget at the moment. The 300 for the bow is a stretch for me. If I buy it, I don't think I can pay a pro shop at the moment to mess with it. Is this something I can mess with myself? Or if things are that tight am I better off to wait until next year to buy something?

There is a lot that you can do yourself or with the help of a friend.

There is some good how-to videos on youtube and there is a lot of knowledge right here. All you have to do is ask.

The Riot is very easy to adjust. Figuring out your draw length is pretty simple too. Measure your wingspan in inches and divide by 2.5. That will give you your draw length. The cams on the riot have a module that allow you to adjust draw length by simply removing 1 screw, turning the module so the hole that reads your proper draw lines up with the threaded hole and replacing the screw. Be sure to measure the arrows to make sure they are long enough for your draw length. Best of luck to you man, keep us posted!

Didnt get to meet up with the seller. Looking around for some other options. One i found is a 2015 PSE Premonition. The plus side is its set ready to go. The down side is he said one of the first few shots an arrow broke and did some damage. He sent it back to pse. They replaced the limbs, cams, and string.
    Os this cause for concern?

My son has the Mission Craze and it's easy to adjust. No press needed. I think it's a good deal. Ask her if she will take $275 for it.
