it's obviously because he's so raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaciiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssssssssssssssssssttttt

Houston is a minority majority city (25% non-Hispanic white) that means 75% of Houston residents are NON-WHITE
Houston has one of the highest black populations in the country
Houston has one of the highest illegal alien (mostly Hispanic) populations in the country
Florida has one of the highest Hispanic populations in the country
Florida has one of the highest black populations in the country

Trump obviously hates all those reliably-Republican voting blacks and Hispanics and illegal aliens in Houston and Florida much less than all the nasty non-voting Puerto Ricans*.

Look, the reasons the disaster response to PR has been relatively slower in comparison to Houston and FL is multi-faceted, but I'll (probably in vain) try to explain it to you anyway:

    • PR is an island in the Caribbean. It takes a long time to get stuff there
    • The interior of PR is mountainous, remote, rural, and hard to get to in the best of situations. Damage assessment is still ongoing. "Normal" conditions in parts of PR are barely better than 3rd world. Honestly in many areas it's hard to tell storm-ravaged PR from non-storm ravaged PR....it's just PR
    • US relief assets are already stretched thin to the point of exhaustion due to personnel and resources being already allocated/depleted to previously referenced Houston and Florida operations; which have been ongoing 24/7 since Aug 25
    • PR has one viable airport...and it must balance commercial, personal travel, and emergency supply traffic. PR has one (1) international seaport, which was heavily damaged and CLOSED until 2 days ago. What good could it have possibly done to waive the Jones Act if the port was closed???
      • The Dept of Homeland Security (which BTW is currently being run by an Acting Secretary who is an Obama holdover) had advised the president that US-flagged assets were sufficient to deliver aid to PR. As more complete and accurate assessments are being conducted, it was realized that international assistance would be beneficial rather than counter-productive. Have you ever tried to blindly jam too many things into one hole? I'm guessing you have. How did that work out for you?
    • In contrast to PR; Houston has one of the largest airports in the world and one of the busiest seaports in the US, and is a massive interstate highway system hub. In other words; it's easy to get stuff in and out
    • FL has over 1300 miles of coastline (2nd most in US) and over 15 international seaports, and 20 international airports, plus a viable interstate highway system...in other words, it's easy to get stuff in and out
    • PR has one of the most corrupt and inept governments in the US. I say one of because I live in IL. What happens when you flood a corrupt island regime with tens of millions of dollars in "relief aid"? The kleptocrats steal it all. Ever hear of Haiti? No? Ask the Clintons and their buddies. They made hundreds of millions doing it
    • Did you know the Jones Act was signed by the Progressive Democrat icon (and avowed racist pig) Woodrow Wilson and is seen as a sacred cow by labor unions?
I'm sick of this garbage. You can not like the POTUS or his policies on principle; but if you're going to spout off all this baseless racism crap you better be ready to get chin-checked with reality. It's sick. There is real racism in the world; and you and all your ilk do the truly oppressed a huge disservice. Grow up, turn off CNN, MSNBC and NPR, and read.

*I'm married to a beautiful nasty curly-headed Puerto Rican, so I can say that kind of thing. You can't say that kind of thing because that makes you racist. I turned in my white privilege card when I married her. Now I'm just as oppressed as she is; which is to say NOT AT ALL.

Any time critical aid isn't sent by ship, it is flown. Once again the media trying to make something out of nothing.

Those were almost as honest questions as this one:

Taking the time? It took all of 10 minutes to fact check the "lack of PR response is due to racism" mantra. Unlike some, I do take the time to fact check media blather. I like facts, not innuendo and spin.

BTW, I'm not a Republican.; at least in the GOP sense. You can keep Paul Ryan and all the rest of the permanent politicrats. I'm somewhere between a Conservatarian and a Conservapopulist. I just despise and will not abide lies, liars, thieves, and the willfully ignorant slaves who serve those who traffic, perpetuate, and profit from them.

the only reason I give a crap about it here or anywhere is I am really sick and tired of the President and all those who support him or at least potions of the MAGA agenda of being called a racist (implied or otherwise.) It's completely devoid of intellectual honesty and quite frankly disgusting. It must not be permitted to go unchallenged in any public forum.

I don't like some of what the POTUS does (or doesn't do); and I certainly don't like a lot of what or how he expresses himself; but in no way could anything he has or has not done in regards to PR relief action be construed as being racist or driven by "hate".

A textbook example of both Aspersion and Diversion...

I'm done here because it's impossible to argue with anyone who lives in alternate realities where facts do not matter. I tried to keep it simple enough that anyone not blinded by Trump Derangement Syndrome could process the real hard facts as they exist without politicizing it as Progs always do with EVERYTHING...

Keep on keeping on Wisco. Good luck in your season. We'll keep subsidizing your fantasy world.

In all honesty DNoodles I didn't create this thread to insinuate any form of racism. I for one don't really think Trump is racist in the first place. He just does a masterful job at pandering to his 99.99% white base, which can sometimes come across as racist. Hence the Nazi's are good people comment and what not. But that's not what this thread was intended to be about. More of a lack of response on his part to Puerto Rico. I mean we had aid on the other side of the world within a week when the tsunamis hit some years back and it takes this long to get support to an American territory.

I don't support a man. I support an office and ideals. But, that doesn't really play into the mantra does it?

If you honestly supported Bernie, I completely understand where you are coming from. Free thinking along with free college, free healthcare, and free everything! Because the rich can afford to float the world's boat. Except that nothing he had in his platform ever worked financially. Even if the rich were taxed at a 90% rate it was not nearly enough money to fund his nirvana. Political fantasy land is a fun place to vacation with the mind, but it doesn't belong in the economics of reality.
