It's not deflection- it's pointing out the massive level of intellectual hypocrisy and dishonesty it takes to smear pols who take donations from the NRA by those who either donate money to or take money from PP (or both- it's Dems favorite money laundering mechanism/avoidance of campaign finance laws.)
I'm in public education. Nobody yells anything at me. We're a right to work state and we have a great health plan. Couldn't be happier. 23 years and counting. Former marine. I'd love to be able to conceal and carry at work. Right now our plan for an intruder is to hide in a storage area with no back exit and pray. There is no gun control legislation that will save our students' lives if someone really wants to kill. And yes, we have a secure building, visitors have to be buzzed in, and we run metal detectors every single day. It could still happen.
I don't know anyone, even the most staunch 2a advocate who isn't for a massive overhaul in the NICS system to include integration between state/local/federal/mental health databases. Since Sutherland, the DoD has already done a massive self-inspection that resulted in the addition of appx. 5000 dishonorably discharged to ththe NICS system. It should never have gotten that bad but to say "nothing has been done" is not true. https://www.mysanantonio.com/news/l...ings-Pentagon-added-thousands-of-12608025.php Too many people are running around yelling "we have to do something" and then when we respond to specific deficiencies those same people complain that it's too little, too late. These shooters are like terrorists- they only have to get it right once; we have to get it right every time. And in a free society that is next to impossible. Doesn't mean things can't be improved, but also doesn't mean there's a silver pardon the pun. Not sure why school funding is an issue here- any funds needed to increase security will almost assuredly come from DHS/DOJ grants.
Might want to check what's being cut There are people on this very board who do not want the NICS system shored up like you posted, they'll argue it with you.
Good talk, but I have to go, I am not worried now. Trump is all over this now. It makes sense at 18 you won't be able to buy a gun, but at 18 go to war and get killed by one. That one makes no sense to me.
Very true. Your wife knows in her heart that the very same folks badmouthing her and her peers wouldn't last a week in the profession. Fact. She's a pro and folks just don't have a clue of all she goes through. They think "Oh, free summers, etc..."
Question Teachers are now allowed to carrier, a shooter comes into the school. What happens if you miss and the shooter goes on to kill 8 more students. Is the said teacher now liable in today's world?
Interesting food for thought....when a cop shoots someone and the media goes into a frenzy...no one blames the Cop's gun.
The last few serious automobile crash claims that my agency has experienced were due to teen drivers playing with their phone while driving. Are these kids willing to fight for legislation to restrict the ownership of smart phones? Texting and driving accounts for over 20% of teen driver deaths. Are we ready to take the phones away? They are killing our kids, and they are killing other innocent drivers that are obeying the laws. How do we protect ourselves and our families from these kids?
I am all for them actually making NICS be the blockade to mental or violent folks from getting firearms, but we gotta make it appeal-able. I know one of the biggest issues many have with making the no-fly list a part of the denied is you cannot appeal this, anyone more in the know - know if that is true? I 100% would love to see digital blocking inside of all modes of transportation when the vehicle is in drive. It is simply downright dangerous driving in today's world. The worst part...technology is there...no one wants to do it though.
Lets not forget about balloons too, kids bite them and they pop and get stuck in kids throats and they choked to death. Also the bucket filled with water, killing kids. Let's bring up every way a kids die, so we can justify and make ourselves feel better as we do nothing. FYI my daughters car has the device so she cannot text or receive text while driving. I am more worried about the soccer mom than my daughter
Maybe. Maybe not. Perhaps a defense attorney would reason that it's just like the Good Samaritan law that some states have. Personally, I'm more worried I'd hit an innocent bystander than miss the shooter entirely. Please understand that I hope I'm never in such a situation. I don't pretend to be Paul Kersey on the weekends. I just would like a fighting chance if need should ever arise.
