I was disappointed in True Grit. The acting, cinematography, production, etc, was of course, all superb, but dammit, I was wanting a gritty western, not some strange hodgepodge of a humorous/awkward/violent/endearing movie. Maybe I went in with too high of expectations, but I left very underwhelmed. 6/10 Now a movie that left me with a feeling that I couldn't shake for days was the fantastic documentary Restrepo. If you haven't heard of it, just do yourself a favor and add it to your Netflix queue as soon as possible. 10/10 In the mood for a slow, spellbinding , minimally dialogued, brutally violent, art house film about a mute viking slave, all the while set to a heavy metal soundtrack? Sound like your cup of tea? Then Valhalla Rising is your film. I'm not really sure what else to say about it. It had very little dialogue, but I can honestly say I was never bored of the film. 6/10 Winter's Bone portrays the midwest exactly how I imagine most of you on this site. Poor, white meth heads hell bent on destroying each other. The acting and pacing of this film was perfect, until the end, when it all just kinda fell flat in my opinion. There was resolution, just not the type of resolution that the movie led you to believe it was building too. If you watched Season 3 of Deadwood, you'll know what I mean. 7/10 Robin Hood. Crap. 2/10
So far all ive seen on your list is Robin Hood, and i wouldnt go as far as calling it CRAP. Just a decent flick 6 or 7/10
I actually liked True Grit. I'd give it 7.5/10. But it sounds like, I didn't have the expectations out of it that you did. Of the movies that I have seen in the last month or so, The Fighter has been my favorite. 9/10
Russel Crowe and Cate Blanchett making out in the middle of the climatic battle did the movie in for me.
How about The Fighter? I've heard good things, including, they use the actual audio commentating from some of the fights. I remember the Ward vs Gatti Trilogy, but it is my understanding its not in the movie. Not sure how you can make a movie about Micky Ward without any part of the Trilogy.
Ill ad a few that ive recently seen: Inception: 9/10. Very good movie in all aspects. Should have got nominated for more Oscars (best actor). Star Wars 4,5,6: 7/10. Watched them for the first time since high school. Looked pretty dated to me. I love Solo/Chewbacca and Darth Vader but i cant get over how terrible of an actor Mark Hamil is. Movies arnt as good as i remembered. Also re-watched Gangs of New York. Pretty much the best movie i have ever seen. Bill the Butcher is my favorite movie character of all time. Rampage 5/10...only saw the end. Looked kinda cheap.
I have yet to see it, as I have a hard time taking a whispering Mark Walhberg seriously for any role other than Dirk Digler.
Anybody see Machete? It looks like my kind of movie. I've had 3:10 to Yuma from Netflix for about a year now..... I suck at watching movies.
I hear Christian Bale is the real reason to see the movie. D!ckie Eklund is one messed up dude, thanks to crack. I hear Bale nails it.
Hook Haven't seen any of those flicks. The last we went to see was The Next Three Days starring Russell Crowell and Elizabeth Banks. I'd give it a 8/10 but I'm not hard to please. :D
I'm sure he does, as he does most of his roles. Bale has became one of my favorite actors. Any word on Tron? I've received mixed reviews from everywhere.
I have seen those... he was good there too... just loved his role in American Psycho... that was a funny flick man
I'm not exactly sure what that means... You know it's an old franchise, right? And the Daft Punk soundtrack is almost enough of a reason to convince me to go see it. Almost. But not quite.
