i put one bag out n the deer seemed to love it. i put the second bag out and the deer won't even touch it. any advise? Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk 2
Deer can be picky at times. Some may have had their fill of minerals. The site may be too mineral rich and turn the deer away for a while. Stick with it Monster Raxx is a good product.
Putting mineral out after deer season in Wisconsin is illegal statewide and only legal in baiting counties during seer season @ 2 gallons per 40 acres.
He isn't the first i've seen on here doing it from Wisconsin PSE (Pope) .DNR should monitor this site..Because obvioulsy they dont care as long as they think they can get away with it..
You might want to google that and see just how many facebook related arrest have been made from postings. Doing something about it is better than doing nothing.
well i didn't know i couldn't use it during the off season. i thought i just had to be in a legal baiting county which i am. thanks for the heads up. no more mineral for this guy. not worth a ticket. Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk 2
and yes i do care. i wasn't trying to get away with anything. it was an honest mistake. im not the kind of guy that breaks laws n tries getting away with things. Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk 2
Ignorance of the law is no excuse..It's your responsibility as a hunter to know the laws and follow them. You get the same Regs book as everyone else when you purchase a license.
Hoyt, Most guys like Realtree do not know the law in baiting counties. I was just trying to educate, life is full of choices. http://dnr.wi.gov/files/PDF/pubs/wm/WM0456.pdf
The only reason they dont know is because the only page they look at is what time each day season starts and ends. I have no empathy for those that claim it was a mistake when all they have to do is read the regs..Young or old..( Hows the hiking going?)

Sounds like an honest mistake. Anyone who is familiar with the law probably wouldn't have posted it on a forum full of Wisconsin bow hunters. They would have just kept it quiet if their intention was to do something illegal. But that's a solid reminder to keep yourself educated on the regs. Learn from it, memorize those laws, move on, have fun, and good luck
I hear ya but you need a law degree to decipher the 100 pages. Heck the link I posted is confusing as it talks of baiting but that's around a dwelling. First JMT trip was great. 42 miles, 4 passes, great trout fishing and my brit gf can catch trout now! Sore knees and feeling old. My Danners finally wore out after 340 miles. Breaking in a pair of Lowas this trip.Heading back up Thursday with my Son for another 46 mile section of the jmt. Second best activity for me.
Sounds like hoyt has never ever made a mistake.....give me a break....educate dont hate....we all make mistakes.....well not all of us apparently Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Hoyt ease up. It's one thing to come at a guy and hold them accountable (Huge advocate of this!) but it's the approach that matters. This sport is as clean as we hunters make it by keeping each other in check so 100% back your thoughts on letting others know however until they give us reasons to pounce let's keep the trigger finger steady :D Realtree, don't worry and please don't hesitate to call a local CO and just bluntly ask, "These baiting laws have me somewhat confused, what exactly can I and can't I do?" You approach them is exactly what they want more hunters to do. Here in IN we can't use minerals/bait/anything 10 days prior to and through the season. I've had many a conversation on how to shut down the mineral sites we do operate to a degree where I can safely assume I'm within the law and my local CO's would approve. They're great resources to have on your side, these discussions will allow them to trust you more as well for or if you have to call to ever report something going on that may not be so legal.
