I was going over my bow tonight in it's final preperations for next weeks opener and discovered that one of my fibers was broken on my sight. Clearly explains why the bottom pin was always so dim. Well I managed to remove the old broken piece and was able to thread new fiber into the pin. How do I cut the excess now so that it won't fall back through the pin hole?
Can't believe that no body can help me!!! Trying to put a call into Trophy Ridge now to see if they can assist me. I can't imagine I would have to go into a shop for something that must be so simple.
Ferg, I just checked out an old one that I had down in my shop. If I was to attemp it, I would pull the broken fiber out the end near the outside decal, then I would operate near a hot light and try to slide a replacement up through the same way. It doesn't seem like there is any other way, other than to feed it through the base of the pinand then thread it after you have the bulk though the protective cover. I hope it helps, but I am not sure what else you could try. If you get an answer let me know. I maintain some bows for buddies and they shoot them and it would be nice to know how to do. Fortunately I am not in you spot and don't have to try to replace right now. The above is what I would do if I had to.
I will have to give that a try this weekend. I was able to remove the old broken piece. I was also able to thread new fiber through the hole. I just have some extra length that needs to be cut. I think that I can cut it and melt the tip so it stays in place. But I will keep you posted.
do you think you could put a small drop of glue on the end as you insert into the housing. that may keep it in place.
I thought about that but none of them have it and should it not work or I ever have to do this again I really don't want to have to deal with glue next time. I will get it figured out.
