My brother has been interested in changing out his old biscuit and going high tech with a drop away since I bought my NAP Apache back in the summer but, never has made the switch. Taking a week off to work to hunt the last week of our season he has been here shooting his bow some between hunts and has been talking about changing the rest since last Friday. Well, this morning was pouring rain and we both rolled out of bed around 9:00am. He wanted to head to a local pro shop to get out of the house and I figured I could check out some of the new bows. We went and he decided on the Trophy Ridge Revolution. We were able to get it for $50.00+ Tax. Must be a day of deals. (See my post in the bow hunting talk called "I'm Jacked good deal, I think")

Anyways, He and I both are like kids when it comes to getting goodies. He had it opened out of the pack checking it out before we were 5 minutes down the road. It seemed simple and like a well designed piece of archery equipment from the looks of it riding down the road.

We got home and he pulled his old Trophy RidgWhiskereBiscuitte off and had the new one mounted in about 5 minutes. We had it mounted and set up in about 10 minutes with only shooting it to fine tune it left to do.

The Instructions included are top notch and easy to understand and read. We did the install exactly as stated in the manual and we were ready to fine tune it with no maissuessues and no questions that we had done it right. The only thing we did different was use a brass nocking point instead of serving it. To me a good set of instructions adds confidence and some sense of security that the product is probably as well made as if I were to have had part in the design.

Shooting with it. We headed out to my range I have set up in my yard to do some tuning on the rest. Didn't need to do anything as far as the rest went. It shot great. It was super quiet. On release I couldn't hear anything coming from the rest when he shot it. It opened well and there was no contact with the rest and the Veins at all.

Today was not ideal outdoor archer shooting conditions to say the least. steady winds of around 15MPH and gust of around 30MPH. This meant 20yd max shooting for us and trying to get the bow close. Below are a couple pics of the last group which wasn't the best but, we were done at that point. We may have to fine tune it more tomorrow and post new pics. His groups werent bad at all for the conditions.

All in all this rest seams to be simple, effective, quiet, easy to install and a nice addition to any bow. I like it a lot and my new Hoyt Carbon Element may find one on it if I have clearance issues out of my Apache like I have heard about. If you are looking for a nice rest and you are on a budget this one is worth looking into.

I almost bought one of those today! Maybe I will go back out and close the deal on one now. Nice write up.

The tech's at a couple of our local shops talk highly of this rest, and recommend it. They say they tune well, and shoot well too. nice write up of the install, and good pictures too!

I have one on my Quest primal....If the rest is place on the bow loose or becomes loose. Shooting an arrow it will break it.

The company sales rep told me this is common with the first series of the rest and the second series of the rest are more sturdier. If it breaks return it to the store you bought it from or return to trophy ridge for a replacement.

I was really impressed especially for $50.00. I am really contemplating buying one for the Element when I get it. They say that the bridge on the riser won't allow the Apache to mount right. It really works great.

Just remember when I contacted the company about those rest the guy also told me the first series of those were to slow for some of the faster bows. I'm sorry i can't remember which ones. but you may want to contact them for clarity.

My brother is shooting 25" DL @ 52lb with an IBO of 305. I don't think his is fast enough to worry aout that. As for mine, I will find out. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the write up. I've been looking at getting a new rest. This was one of the first dropaway rests i looked at, with the price point being in my range. May have to pick one up with the extra xmas money i got.

I don't have any personal experience with that rest, but I had a customer purchase one from us a few weeks ago and then call back and say that it blew up on him after the first couple of shots. Not sure why or how, but that's what he told me. Ended up selling him an Apache as the replacement.

If you're looking for a full-containment rest that holds the arrow in place, NAP has a new one coming out called the "Armor Rest". Very similar to the Sizzor rest they've had for a few years now. I'm debating between that and the new Carbon Apache for this fall.

I am getting the Carbon Element at tax time and I have the Apache on my old bow now and I love it. I have 2 problems with it though. a. its too big for the Element and b. its heavy. I have put 2,000+ shots through my Apache and it is still quiet and hasn't failed me yet. As with anything, there will be problems with mass produced products and they will fail. Had a guy tell me his Apache fell apart on him on the release of a shot. I will check out the armor rest.
