I was sitting on the couch watching hunting the world southern style and I got to wondering what was and where was the biggest deer taken in the south east U.S.? does anybody know?
According to SCI's record book, The #1 archery Southeastern white-tailed deer was taken in Kentucky. It scored 174-7/8 inches
Weapon, state, typical/NT...list the criteria and that will help. Ga has a 184 bowkill for a state record, a 191" gun kill and over 220 or so NT state record. I looked nothing up, just going off memory. EDIT...248 for a NT state record.
That's a pretty neat looking animal..... A little info on hunting them.... http://www.huntingreport.com/hunting_article_details.cfm?id=1661 and http://www.floridawildlifemagazine.com/pdfs/may06sambardeer.pdf Who's up for a roadtrip......
Check ou the Stoval buck killed in FL about 10 years ago. Taped out at 206"!!! On public land with a bow no less!!
SCI's non-typical #1 white-tailed deer score 203- 7/8. Again, it was taken in Kentucky (Morgan County). Kodiakarcher and I will be hunting Sambar deer in Australia next September. They are probably one of the hardest deer in the world to harvest with archery tackle. Another interesting deer is known as a Pere David's. They're not as large as the sambar, but they have cool looking racks.
