Have any of you considered using tritium as a light source instead of a sight light? I just put one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/150575847751?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_783wt_809 in white in my G5 sight. I put the tritium vial in a piece of black heat shrink and slid the fiber in beside the vial. Can't wait to see how it works getting close to dark. I also use a Bow Anchor Sight instead of a peep.
Havn't considered it but I don't see why it woldn't work. I would use the white to keep the fiber colors true.
Same idea as using a set of Truglo TFO sights on your pistol. I just wish I could get a decent picture to show how it looks now that I have it together.
Do put a picture up if you can. But I really don't understand what the advantage is over a sight with built-in light. To me it's simply a tried and true archery supply.
One advantage, well if you could call it that is it wouldn't disqualify you for the record books. No battery = no electronics. That is if they are still doing that. I thought the rule needed to be tweaked......
Update.. I have been shooting in low light conditions trying it out. I still am unable to get a decent picture. I can tell you that in almost complete darkness (I can barely see the shape of the target) I am still able to shoot baseball size groups at 20 yards. Works great. Works so well that I am seriously considering trying to bowhunt coyote at night over a gut pile this fall. I can't wait!!
