Just wondering, maybe somebody has some experience with this. I was thinking that using a tripod or bi pod to help quickly sight in a bow? Seems like, from watching shots in slow motion, that the bow doesn't move any until after the arrow is gone. If thats the case the maybe it could work? anybody?
Nope. Hand torque, anchor placement, trigger panic... to much happens in the process of shooting a bow, even while the arrow is still on the string. You need to shoot your own bow and sight it in. It's not like sighting in a rifle.
Ok Fitz, then why do so many people use a mechanical shooter to first sight in a bow first before they sight it in free hand? Thasts what I was getting at.
I've never used one. No one I've helped sight in their bows have had their bows shot in a mechanical shooter. The bow shop I got my bow from doesn't have a mechanical shooter. If you want to set a bow up properly, you have to have the shooter shooting.... With a mechanical device you might be able to get it in the ball park for say ten yards... but so will shooting one arrow free hand at said yardage. In my opinion there is no advantage, infact, seems it would take longer to do?
The only time I have heard of a mechanical device to do anything with a bow is to test arrows and broadheads in a studio type setting so that the video could be slowed down to watch them in flight. Not to sight anything in. Fitz is right. Shooter needs to sight it in.
