Hey everyone, new to bow hunting and I have a several questions. I'll start with the trigger release. I took some advice of a friends and picked up a Tru-fire buckle release. I just don't know how it is supposed to fit. It seems to adjust a pretty good amount. I'm wondering if there is a technique for adjusting it to the proper length. I have tried adjusting it to find whats comfortable but nothing felt comfortable. haha. I imagine that comes with time. Also I noticed there is an adjustment just below the trigger. Not the allen nut but on the the shaft of the actual device there is a nut that tightens. I can't figure out what that does. No matter which way I tighten it up or down it doesn't stop the release from spinning and adjusting the length. I need some help!:confused
Could you post up a pic of what model you have? That would help us to better give you hand in figuring it out. Oh, and Welcome to the forum!!!
I'm not familiar enough with your type of release, as I use a 4 finger T.R.U. Ball Pro Diamond. I wanted to welcome you to the forum. Great folks here. I bet someone will chime in that is knows more about your release. Maybe go to tru fire's website, if you haven't already.
Here's a pic. The pencil is pointing to the part of the device I was describing as "Tightening up or down and doesn't seem to do anything". Thanks for welcoming me. Hopefully in a few months I'll be posting pics of my first bow stuck buck!
After I uploaded this pic I was fooling around with the release and I found that adjustment nut I pointed to with the pencil is the adjustment for the trigger tension. Works great. I still would like some advice for adjusting the length on this thing though.
I don't know if there's an adjustment for the head length on that release or not. You can adjust length on a wrist strap release to some extent by how tightly you buckle the strap. That's a problem with Velcro straps; you can set it to inconsistent lengths every time you put it on. That's why I only recommend buckle straps; same hole every time = consistent anchor. Try loosening the strap if you need the release a touch longer and tighten it to make it shorter. Also remember that this isn't a rifle trigger. You don't want it out on the tip of your finger. You want your finger wrapped around it so that your middle phalanx (center part of your finger) is on the trigger. You want to maximize your draw length by making the release body as short as possible.
Yeah that must be why my buddy recommended the buckle strap. I was trying to make it so the tip of my finger set the release free. Thanks for the heads up. Now what the hell is a phalanx?? lol Just kidding. See that guys not only did he help me with my bow shooting but he taught me some high school anatomy. Thanks dude!
You want it about at the knuckle. If it's to far out, you push the trigger down before it releases causing you to jerk the shot.
Thanks Headstrong, made that adjustment and took a few shots. First arrow hit the target perfect center, second arrow actually STUCK inside my first arrow! Blew right throught the nock and stuck in shaft of the arrow! I should have left it and taken a picture. Thanks for all the tips everyone.
I have mine as short as I can while still being comfortable. reason being, you can shoot a longer draw length that means more killing power !! the tip of the jaws comes up to the last knuckel on my middel finger when at full draw. never liked having a massive extention on my releases as like I said it just means less draw length you can have on the bow
Simpler release Idk if this will help, but my release like a lot of other simple ones are only adjustable using the strap. The further the draw weight can pull the trigger the looser I fasten my strap. Its just hard to be consistent sometimes. Good luck!
