After reading Fitz's journal, I decided to purchase a cam mount for my bow from Android phone (can also mount any standard digital cam as well) to shoot some video on stand. This evening, I decided to try it out (since Saturday morning yielding nothing). I had four doe come out this evening into the clover plot (two doe and two fawns). One pair decided to cross over in footage range (I passed mom several times at 15yds, but it was raining, and well, I sometimes have a hard time shooting does with young ones around). I did (for a second) consider drawing back, but there will be other days. Here's a short clip (nothing fancy, and it didn't focus too well in the lower light (it is a phone after all), but it's my first official footage of anything from the stand. Overall, I'm happy with the mount for occasional footage, and the customizable positions it allows. For anyone interested, here's a link to the product page
Nice Matt! I like having a camera there with very little hassle or extra bulk. Glad you found a case that worked for your phone
That darn Fitz persuaded me to buy one too. :D Mine is on the way...bought a Insane Archery Mount from YoungFart. I can't wait to try it out. Matt, good luck with it. I can't wait to take an animal while filming it.
Looks like the phone did a good job. I have one of those hat cam mounts with a Kodak pocket cam. troubl is I havn't seen deer to try it out on.
I think the creaking is my cam sliding on my boot (I was sitting with my bow upright when I shot this). The sound is really amplified, and I know I didn't hear it when shooting. It could also just be my glove slide on the front of the riser as I'm rotating the bow (the phone mic is right next to my index finger on my bow hand).
