Anyone ever done one of these?

    Seems do-able.

    300M swim
    12mi. bike
    5K run

    I'm 45. This doesn't sound SO easy, to me.:D

Ironically, I trained lifeguards in college (summers, to make $$). I don't mind tellin' ya....the swim scares me MOST (even at only 300meters). The 12mi. bike and 5K aren't a real concern. My goal would be ---------finish.

Just something I saw locally, that I'm thinking about.

    This looks right up Hooker's alley.....as a warm-up!:)

I would need water wings for the swim.....and I grew up on a lake.

I would like to do something similar to this, Jeff. I say go for it.

And I don't know if Hooker would even consider this a warmup. Maybe a warmup to a warmup. :D

Our overall fat percentage rises as we get older...therefore, you will be better able to float Jeff, which in turn will help you swim that 300 meters. :)

That looks a lot more doable than most of the "mini" triathalons I've seen.
Should be fine just to finish it. I wouldn't want to have to train or compete to finish with a competitive time.

My 66 year old friend... who does the YMCA gym about 5 days a week did one last summer. He finished 107 our of about 1000 people. He's an oddity I know. He can't swim worth a flip. That really pulled him down. He benches 285 and crazy things like that. Plays racketball, does a day of cardio and then a day of weights etc. He spent the night with me drinking too much beer the day before the thing. LOL That might have hurt him a little too.

Do it! What a great experience - i've thought about doing a tri many times (just need a new bike!) The swim may be the toughest for you, but it's the first; get in, get it done, get out. If you're confident in the other areas, you can focus your training more on the swim. You'll do great! Good luck!
