I cringe just thinking about it. Glad you kept the digit. Welcome to the forum.

Holy crap... I can't imagine what that felt/feels like. I just got engaged this summer and I told my fiancé I will only be wearing my ring out to eat, family events, out on the town, etc., because I do way too much climbing (farm equipment) for something like this to happen. She's got a weak stomach when it comes to stuff like this or I'd show her the pictures as to why I wont. My grandpa used to drive a feed truck and had the same thing happen to him climbing down holding on to the step up bar. Luckily for him it only caught for a split second or could have ended up like this.

Welcome to the site and wow:-( Glad you're alright. Funny you brought this up because I had caught my wedding ring the same way a few weeks ago. I wasn't jumping off so nothing happened but it was just bizarre to get your hand locked like that. I usually zip tie those clips down to keep them quiet.

I had a few close calls in my previous job. So much that I stopped wearing the wedding ring completely. I've never worn any type of jewelry so the ring always felt weird. I told my wife that I would gladly tattoo a band on my finger with her name if she wanted me to. She said it wasn't necessary. I will wear it on special occasions, but just not for everyday use.

    Welcome to the forum.

Glad that you were able to recover. Had a co-worker that lost his ring finger jumping from a piece of equipment. Me and some friends have been bear hunting in northern Maine the last 3 years in the Portage Lake area. Great country up there and made some good friends. Glad to see that the bear baiting will be able to continue after the election Tuesday.

Good grief man. That is the weirdest "hunting" accident I have ever heard of. I think you were lucky and walked away better then anyone could expect. At the same time I can say with almost certainty that a safety harness probably wouldn't prevented the incident for the majority of us. Quite possibly the same results even with a life line. I take away two things from this.

    1. Never wear a wedding ring. I quit wearing mine altogether 10+ years ago because I always have my hands in electronics.

    2. Slow down, don't throw caution to the wind ever.

Welcome to the site and thanks for sharing!

Wow I can't imagine the kind of pain that caused. I quit wearing my wedding ring a couple years ago. When my wife wanted to know why, I pulled up a couple images and showed her and she has been fine with it ever since.

That hadn't crossed my main as something to look out for in the deer woods but it will now, thanks. My brother almost lost his finger when his ring got caught in the net while playing basketball. Also, had a friend who lost part of a finger swinging from a rope off of a pontoon that was attached to a tree branch. He didn't even have a ring on. It somehow wrapped around his finger and pop off it went, some snapper had a tasty snack that afternoon.

Welcome. Wow that looks nasty and painful. When I see or hear of accidents like this I am glad I havnt worn mine in 20 years. Mostly because of work and I didn't want to ruin it or get hurt. Now it doesn't fit me . Use to just wear it when going out dressed up.

Glad it was able to be saved for you. That would give m night mares to
