I am going to New York to hunt Whitetail this November and I have never hunted from a treestand before. I'm buying a harness before I go. Does anyone have reccomendations on a quiet, easy to use, harness that won't get in the way at full draw.

I have one of the Hunters Safety Systemvests. They are great. Easy to use and comfortable.

I wear the vest above my base layer and under my top layer. You can also wear the vest as your top layer.

I always put a Caribiner on the end of the tether that comes out of the top of the vest. This makes it easier and quicker to clip in.

Simple to use. Climb up. Sinch the tree-strap to the tree and clip on. Then, you're ready to hunt.

I have always wore the hunter safety system Pro. I have been looking at the Muddy Harness. I am tore between the two. I think that I am leaning towards the hunter safety system...just my 2 cents

I was just researching harnesses. Jeff, is the "new" muddy's chest strap going to pose a problem with the bowstring? Does it have the relief strap or whateve it's called in case you fall and are hanging?

I get a VERY good discount from HSS since I became a bowhunter ed instructor. I just ordered a Pro series vest and linemans belt for under $100. It should be a big improvement over the Gorilla harness I've been using.

I have an HSS and a muddy as well. The muddy is going out this year because of the reasons listed above.

I used the strap that came with my stands until this year. I bought a Muddy over the offseason. I like it so far but would not be able to give a good review of it until used in a hunting situation.

I'm thinking about ordering one as well. Been using the one that came with my summit for years. I don't really know if I'd trust it during a fall.

So, according to my research. The binoc holders suck, its uncomfortable while hanging :) , chest strap is new and improved, & supposedly tangle-free. Am I missing anything?

HSS has my vote. There isn't an easier safety harness I've found to put on. That is part of why I went with it. When something is that easy to put on it makes it so much easier to wear everytime. I like the idea of the Muddy tho. Maybe when I outgrow my HSS I will give them a look.

Thanks Guys, It sounds like I will be fine either way... If I go with the HSS or the Muddy.

Lol...the only reason I said that was because of another thread I had previously read about tree stand harness reviews. The muddy is very uncomfortable while hanging 20' in the air.:p

I just purchased a Hunter Safety System vest today. It is a lot heavier then I expected it to be but will love not having all the different straps getting all tangled. Looking forward to wearing it next week and testing it out!

Exactly. I compare it to a Ford vs Chevy thing. It all is personal preference.
