    Hey Eric,
Last year I used the d I c k s sporting goods house brand, paid like 70 bucks for it on clearance. Overall I was very happy with it. It was in the woods every day last season. Its rather on the heavy side so if you're packing it in and out take that into account.

I have an Ol Man. It's not light. That's the ONLY complaint I have. It's the most comfortable and secure stand I have.

I just bought a Gorilla climber, got it on clearance for less than $70, tax and all. Have used it 4 times and like it pretty well. I am a larger fellow and it is comfortable enough for me to set in for several hours at a time. I think the total weight on it is 28#. I have taken 7 hogs out of it so far with no issues. I got it up to about 17 feet but that was a little high for my liking. WEAR A HARNESS ALL THE TIME!!!! If not for you for the ones that love you.

I have a gorilla greyback that I picked up from the mountain dirt cheap. I wouldn't buy another one. It's relatively comfy, but it's heavy and the foot platform is way too short for me. I fixed it by welding on an extension, but it's still not my favorite stand.

That being said, I can't speak from personal experience with Ol Man treestands, but i've heard nothing but good things.

I bought an Ameristep Grizzly climber. It would not have been my absolute first choice, but didn't want to spend $$$$ not knowing if I'd like the climber. It was 149$ at Fleet Farm last year. In short, the stand is pretty heavy being all steel and quite honestly, it's not a "fast" stand to set up in the morning or pack up in the evening. However, I would say for the money I'm very happy with the construction of the stand. It is very solid once in place and climbs easily I thought. The foot straps are sub par (nylon straps with a buckle to tighten them) but they worked ok, at least with smaller boots on. The seat was comfortable for me to sit all day with out much issue. The stand is able to accomodate very large trees which I liked.

Pros: Very sturdy, affordable, pretty comfortable
Cons: Heavy, needs a few upgrades but you could mod yourself, does not pack/unpack all that easily/quickly

Field and Stream makes one identical pretty much except it's aluminum at ****s Sporting goods for about the same price. I would have bought that one instead if I saw it first, since it's lighter. Otherwise, I'd have saved up more money and bought a higher end one like summit.

I will say this however. My friend uses a Lone wolf sit and climb stand. Very nice. Very light, small, simple, easy to use. Personally though, I was more comfortable in mine and felt way safer at 25'-30' than I did when I tried his. A different model may have made me think different, but that particular one I didn't care for. It was not able to accomodate very large trees and the system didn't really have a good way to keep it tight to the tree once set up.

For what it's worth...thats my experience.

I love my Ol' Man treestand. I went with the alluminum version which is about 10lbs than the steel one. If you have to pack it too far, you'll be glad you did. It's $100 more, but make 10 trips to the woods and it's paid for IMO. Very comfortable and easy to use.

Can't comment on the Ol' Mans but I can highly recommend a Summit stand. Safe, secure and extremely comfortable.
