I have been as low as 4-5 feet and as high as 40+ feet. I only go as high as I need to, I do not have a predetermined height to hunt.

While I would guess I don't NEED to be that high.......I am just not comfortable at any height less than 20 feet. I feel exposed and vulnerable. I've been as high as 40', but never under 20.

I prefer to get up there If possible (20 foot range). I've had bear and deer stands as low as 5 to 6 feet, depends on the set up.

Around 20 ft, but have some 15 and 16 ft ladders that seem to work good. If you can be still, usually OK...

im usually around 15 feet off the ground. i have been hunting a ladderstand that high. so its just a height i have been comfortable with. but if a tree wont allow me to put a hang on at that height ill give or take a couple feet

I average around 20 ft, but it really just depends on the tree and the situation

None of the above. I'm ussually in the 16-18 ft range. But, I was only 8 ft off the ground when I shot the biggest buck of my life.

I can't think of a single reason I would ever be up 40 feet in a tree. That's freakin' crazy... and I'm not sure what your advantage would be.. or rather if it ever would be worth a kill to go up that height.

As far as height.. I don't really care.. depends on several factors.. but I've hunted from 6 feet up just as effectively as 20 feet up.

While I have hunted as low as 15 or 16 feet, I prefer to be in the 25 foot range.

On a side hill when the downwind side is also down hill and the predominant trail is uphill I can see going 40' easily to be at least level if not above the trail. There are plenty of scenarios but flat landers wouldn't see it. :d

    That said LOL,

I normally hunt at least 20'. Like was said several times, the foliage and terrain will dictate either higher or lower.

I love being called a flat-lander when I predominately hunt the Mississippi coulee country region. Farley calls me it too.. which makes little sense since he predominately hunts 30 minute north of me in just as hilly country as my own house.

Our hills out in that region are so steep you'll die if you fall. Or.. get real messed up.

I just have no need to go up 40'... ever. Rob.. I'll find a different tree first.:d

I'm usually about 12 feet off the ground. I don't ever remember hunting over 16 feet.

I've been 15 feet off the ground and I've been 30 feet off the ground. I will never put a stand that high again because I'm just not comfortable with that height. 20 feet is optimal for me.
