I go out in the rain sometimes. I have never taken a shot though. My fear of the blood trail washing away is why. I would like to get one of those umbrellas though.

x2. I've never shot a deer when its raining for the reasons you listed above but I wouldn't mind having one though if I knew the rain was going to quit or if I knew a passing shower was coming. All day sits would be ideal to have one. Specially up here where it gets a tad colder this time of year.

I've seen them and contemplated getting one, but haven't bought one yet. Maybe I should pick one up. I have passed up good hunting days because it was raining, or I go sit in my enclosed hunting tower.

I bought two of them this year: One for me to use on the stand and one to put over my inverter generator that I'll be using. I've already hunted with them during my muzzleloader hunt in Kentucky.

I don't care for the plastic mounting bracket and straps that came with it so I took two old single fold Realtree EZ hangers, cut them about four inches past the first joint. Then I cut the steel arm that came with the umbrella and combined them. Now I can just pull out my "screw in bracket", screw it in and pop the umbrella on and tie the tie-down strings around the tree. It's actually pretty slick - a heck of a lot easier and faster to set up. If I had a pic I'd post it.

One other thing: I'm not a fan of actually bow hunting in the rain either because of the rain washing away the trail, but I'll gladly sit through a few hours of rain so that I can be in my stand when the rain stops. In my opinion that's a golden time to already be there.

I cut my shot distances in half when it's raining.

I like getting out there in the rain (knowing it's going to stop within an hour or two... one washes down any scent that might be tracked in.. plus quiets the stalk to the tree.. once up and set i'll wait for the rain to just about stop.

For those who use this, do you NOT have any raingear, and do you walk out to your stand with an umbrella up? Or do you wear raingear and then take it off when you get under your Yumbrella?

I have THOUGHT about getting one....and Ive seen my biggest deer ever in the middle of a hurricaine.

Bloodcrick....would you please look and see if any of these are what you have? Google didn't show anything for tree umbrella and this is what I found on amazon.

For what its worth, I haven't seen deer movement in a hard rain to be worth the time, but in a light misting rain it can be excellent. And I think I could use something like this on my duck blind so it would serve double duty!

Couple years back Wally World had them on clearance for $5 each. I bought 5 and used one for the first time the following year. Don't see why I waited so long? They're great!

I have a camo poncho. Water has never stopped me from hunting.

I don't know which one Crick bought, but here's the one I bought two of from Amazon. On a side note, it's a good idea to buy a can of silicone waterproofer and give them a once over (especially the seams) to make sure you don't get dripped on.

I have rain gear, but I have yet to find rain gear that will keep all parts of me (especially my hands) dry. Plus, having a hood of any kind on severely limits my field of view and puts even more limitations on what I can hear than the rain already has, both of which I truly hate.

If it's raining when I head out then yes, I'll wear my rain gear to my stand. Even using one of these I'll leave the rain pants on while it's raining.

I had one for the sun mostly till a storm blew it down. What I found was if it was to low your bow would hit it when you stood up to draw and if it was to high it really didn't block much sun or you had to keep adjusting it.

I have used one for a few years. I think the one I had was a gorilla. Bought at wallyworld for 15 bucks I believe. Need to get another one for my trip to Kansas next week. I often left them in my stand and the wind would ruin them.
