Do you think cedar trees help with scent control?

Its a possibility. You could put ceder planks in the stand.

deffinently scent cover. i love hunting in eastern white cedar tree's. when a deer is gonna get down wind I take and smash up some cedar needles, they smell almost like vick's vapor rub (cuase of the camphor) great cover scent for me. I have a seperate shed that all my hunting stuff goes into. I go cut up a cedar blow down and put all the fresh cedar log and tree tops in it a few weeks prior to season. My clothes, bow, everything has a natural cedar scent to it. then i use fresh earth cover scent. rather than a pure scent killer. better luck getting mature doe's by me with that routine than trying to go totally scent free. have tried both. I have on the average 20 doe have to go by me a night before bucks show up. we have a very high deer concentration. So yeah I love them! sorry bout the long reply, thought you might find it useful! be blessed with a big buck this fall!

Cedar trees are my favorite stand trees. Dont need any steps , your scent is masked, and they help hide you. They grow like weeds here in nebraska so they are everywhere. I take the greens when I walk into a stand and crush them in my hand to cover my scent on my hands

I eat cedar trees for breakfast to control my breath. Jk, but yeah they help a lot. Anything Thats stronger then you (smell wise) is a good cover. I've taking branches off the Christmas tree and brought them with me a few times in the past. I just hang them on the stand. Good times

Cedar trees have such a strong odor I couldn't help but think it would certainly help cover your scent. My favorit thing about them is the amount of cover they provide and they are super quite. No squeaks at all!

I would say very little if any. If you walk into an Italian restaurant and take a whiff, you can get many scents from garlic and oregano to some perfume from the lady next to you. Just think what a deer’s nose can do. Will the deer smell the cedar? Yes. But IMO they will smell you also. I read one time a deer can separate 20 scents in one sniff.

One of the Knight guys always swore by cedar trees...wish I had some mainly due to the awesome cover they'd provide and at most the minimal assistance in scent control they offer.

Indeed you still should play the wind. I myself a few season ago had six deer walk within 5 feet of me during spring turkey season and they never knew I was there. I was sitting up in / under a cedar. We also use cedar limbs to brush our blinds in when the site does have cedar trees. So play the wind, use good scent controll protocal and use cedar. Every little bit helps. :)

Yes it will aide in your scent cover. Like the other guys said, if you are going to hunt in one, take some branches and put them in the bag your store your clothes. I love the smell of them and if I had one near me, I would definitely have a stand in it.

I do not know about scent control. I suppose they would cover scent some what. But you talking about a good place to put a stand. I have a lock-on in one an it is about 12' off the ground an they have never busted me yet. I love to hunt that stand.
