For those of you who own climbers and carry them into your stand every time you hunt, how do you store them in order to keep them as scent-free as possible? I moved mine from my basement to a tree in my back yard just to try to get rid of the scents and smells that might be in it until the season starts on the 15th. But I don't really think I want to keep it there for a permanent spot, mostly because I don't want to have a soggy seat at 4am because I left it outside.

I hang mine in my garage. I have 5 climber stands. I put 4 of them out on the private ground I hunt and they stay there the entire season (granted they may move around, but they stay out). The fifth I have in my garage for when I hunt somewhere else.

When I was hunting exclusively with a climber, it would either be on the back of my truck (during season) or in my garage. I never really worried about it.

I guess if you're hunting the wind then you shouldn't worry. It's just those deer that come in from downwind that screw things up. :)

The only private ground I have is going to be clear cut by a logging company sometime in the next few months and I'm not sure when (and the landowner isn't doing a good job of keeping me posted). So I'm a little weary of keeping my stand on a tree. But the back of my truck sounds good. I never worried about it in the past but I figure I worry about human scent on clothes and what I touch and everything so why go all that way just to have my stand reek and spook the deer.

I actually leave my climber in the woods I am going to hunt, I feel pretty comfortable that it won't turn up missing and I have a fairly long walk into my hunting spots - my season doesn't open until the first of October and I've already got it in the woods waitin for me. I do take the seat off the stand with me so the weather doesn't fade the camo and so it doesn't get nasty with moisture.

Metal isn't very absorptive of scent. I wouldn't worry about it, and just spray it down once there if you need the peace of mind.

The straps and seat have absorbed a kind of musty odor (my basement flooded during Hurricane Irene).

Maybe a baking soda bath would help?
