For those of you that use portable stands (climbers, hang-ons), where do you store the stands during the season? Do you leave them outside as to not pick up any scents? I just purchased a new Summit Viper SS and in the manual it says not to store it outside because the tubes could fill with rain water then freeze and break. Just curious what the rest of you do. Thanks, Mike
I keep my inside and if weather permits the night before I go hunting I spray it down and leave it out side. Then spray it some more before heading into the woods
climbers I might leave for a few days ,but no longer. Chain on stands stay up from Aug till end of archery season (mid Nov)
My climber and my alpha assault stay outside the house all season. When one gets to go in the woods, they get sprayed too.
I store both my Viper and Alpha outside under a shed. Keeps them away from the direct rain and keeps them smelling like the outdoors.
I throw mine on a shelf in the garage during the off season. During the regular season I have my steel lock-on's set and my Summit climber locked with a cable in my truck bed. I NEVER leave my climber in the woods.
I store my stand in a big mattress storage bag in my garage. Take them out as I need them. I have a Viper that folds flat for storage and transport, so it doesn't take up much room.
I'm the only person who hunts my land & it's in the middle of nowhwere & POSTED so i leave my stands up year around & change straps as needed.
Damn I wish I owned my own land. The one stipulation in my agreement to hunt on the property I do is that my stands have to come down with me everyday. Impossible to do it quietly with a Rivers Edge Bigfoot, so LW Alpha was added to the arsenal. Hunted out of it for the first time yesterday. Set it up at noon, deer in the truck at 6! Might as well be a climber.
Mine are in a big closet I built in my hunting cave. I take all the padding and seats off at the end of the year and store them in a couple of tubs and stack the stands up till next season.
During the season it stays in the back of my truck (I have a cab). During the offseason it goes downstairs. I put it outside for a week or two and spray it down before I hunt with it.
