This weekend I will be hunting with my girlfriends dad and his family in the Ozarks in Arkansas on public land. This will be my first time hunting public land. I love my lone wolf hand climber but i have always been able to screw in a bow hanger or an accessory screw to help keep my stuff conveniently beside me but not in the way. My girlfriends dad and his family all hunts with a rifle while i only bow hunt, but i decided that i was going to bring along my brothers 30-30 just in case (They run dogs. I have never been hunting for deer with dogs and I am actually a little excited to see what happens.) The rifle is for shooting a deer on the run or out of range with a bow. So finally my question is where am i going to keep the rifle in the tree stand with me that is accessible but not in the way? I will attach my back pack to the top of the climber with some paracord and carabiner. I will take my quiver off my bow and put the bow in the bow hook on the stand and I will attach the quiver to my backpack. So that only leaves me with the gun. I don't know where i could put it so that it is easy to get too but not in the way on my lap or something. Any advice and information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Aaron

Why not just take an screw in accessory hook and hang it by the sling?

But with it being public land, I can't do anything to the tree, correct? Or am I wrong? Like i can't screw in anything or break any limbs or saw down a branch, I thought that was illegal for public land?

OK then , take a ratchet strap and fashion a hook. Use some metal that you can bend into a Z shape and there you go, a temporary hook.
