I have hunted very little out of a tree stand, being a gun hunter until now I have killed all my deer from the ground. This being my first year to bow-hunt what are some tips or resources I could review to get me pointed in the right direction as to how to hang tree stands and pointers to being successful with them? Thanks for your help.

    1. Make sure there is enough surrounding over. Don't let the deer ski line you.
    2. It's easier to put the steps in if you pre drill the holes.
    3. Try to be about 20 feet up.
    4. Try to pick a tree that is big enough. You want your tree to be as sturdy as possible.
    5. Bring a small bag that you can carry with you as you go up the tree and keep your steps/drill in it.

Try to remember...hang the stand IN the tree NOT on tree. In other words do not get carried away cutting shooting lanes...learn to thread your arrows like you would a bullet. Good Luck.

Be strapped in the whole time. Wear a harness and linesman rope on your way up.

I like to set my hang on stands using my climber as a work platform,I use the climber and set the stand then as i decent i put the steps in the tree works well for a one man operation. I put all my stands up during the spring but i would not hesitate to move one later if a site turns sour or a new spot turns hot as the rut kicks in.

also i use my hang on stands and ladders in funnels and then use the climber to hunt remote sites that i only hunt once or twice a season.
